It would take a lot to convince me to donate and honestly I don't think it will ever happen even if a radical change towards improving the entertainment value of the game comes through. The simple fact is that until ShadowMaster's focus shifts from "good game design" (via Randy) and "database trouble" to fun and good player relations this game has no chance.
He said things like he wants players to "pay in time" to play the game, he wants less units and smaller empires because "larger empires are just drains on the game", he's shown he's more interested in his database's functions than his player retention and he's scoffed off losing 1.6K or so in Gunner's dp pool saying it "won't break the bank" and it just "hurts neveron" by making it take longer for hardware upgrades, coding classes and hiring randy again.
He also has not said in any shape or form that he understands the position of former donating players who feel they've been swindled (via bait and switch "donate to this, I'll give you that" turning into something far different). He's said if we don't like it to quit so he can delete out empires. His response to the outcry against degradation of buildings was "it was working EXACTLY like it is supposed to" and "it didn't do that much damage" along with acusations of players being spoiled and unwilling to change as well as over reacting and not providing intelligent feedback.
So, again, what would it take for me to donate?
SM sells the game to someone else.

Dee: Aside from most of the context missing from most of my actual comments, and your reply tainted with some one sided view of them, for the most part that is where Neveron stands with things.
First, you dont go to a baseball game, realize you hate baseball, then turn around and buy season tickets so you can go to the stadium and stand there bitching about how bad the sport is during the entire game. You simply STOP buying the tickets to the game, and you stop going to the stadium.
That does not mean that there are still not plenty of people who enjoy the game, and some that even will pay to go to the actual stadium [rather than watch it for free on TV]
As for my focus on the games design over current player preferances...
The game can not be successful in the future if it is fundamentally flawed.
This includes the old database and its integrity, as well as the multiple generations of coding through out the entire game. Even after we address all the hardware, and software, and coding issues...there are still huge issues, like the utter lack of any intelligent and worthy Help System. Telling people to go to chat and ask random people for instructions is not only a stupid idea for a support system, but it has failed MISERABLY over the last 10 years for Neveron.
So my focus will continue to be on the game from the inside out. Once we have a decent fundamentally sound game, then we will work on getting more players to help the game thrive again.
Any and all players are welcome to stay and play during this period, but be very clear that there will be many more changes in the future. This is not a popularity contest. This is a business that is struggling against many issues...rebelious players being one of its smallest.
So please if you are truely unhappy with Neveron of today, please stop buying season tickets and dont waste your gas driving to the stadium

your comment was simply one of the several 'splits' that occurred in the multiple off topic comments that occurred in that original thread, which was discussing how the most recent changes could be modified to be more widely accepted by some of the currently 'upset' players.
to be more specific, the creator of the topic was not asking for a poll, or player feedback about what it would take for you to personally donate again / ever. it was a rhetorical question to start his discussion. had you bothered to read it, you would have seen that.
However the forum Mod tools only allowed them to be split of in the bits as you see now. This wasnt realized until after the first one was split off, and it only took certain comments from the original topic. so instead of one clean 'rant' about how you will never donate again, it ended up in 4 seperate threads
so your comment 'when hell freezes over' was made with the assumption he wanted to know when YOU would donate again. that was NOT the actual topic, and as such is technically 'off topic'

Many people fail miserably at using forums as they where intended for focused discussions available to many people on many schedules/ time zones. It is rare that any topic in the Neveron section stays on topic for more than a few additional comments. Neveron players also try to discuss massive overly complex topics as a single entity, which is another failure.
Forums are most useful when a specific topic is selected, and replies to that topic remain focused. Every secondary thought process that is added only further dilutes the original topics usefulness. If the second thought process is worthy of its own topic, then give it one of its own.
