I was wondering if anyone here knows where I could get some cards to start playing.

It's not that easy to get cards anymore, the best place to buy them is on e-bay.
You can however check out this site
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BattleTech-CCG/
Its the yahoo group for Battletech, people there may be willing to sell, or even give you cards. Its a much busier site than here.
There is also
www.ccgworkshop.com
Just download the software and the card images and you can play the game online. There are people there who will give you a "tour" of the system and how to play online.
