Why is it that Nev Arms Sales sometimes has different prices on the exact same mech? Is it because the prices are based on the resource market? If so, why doesn't Nev Arms Sales have their own resource supplies, since it would seem that increasing resource prices increases the cost of mechs to everyone.

NASI sells is a computer generated market that sells it products with prices according to how fast the mechs get sold. In other words, the prices are based mainly on demand. I think a few other aspects affect the price too but the main one would be demand.

But you always have to keep in mind that the admins are the ones who say WHAT is a high and what is a low demand...
If they wanna raise the prices they just have to say that 4 mechs of a kind per real day are high demand - so the prices go up....
If they wanna lower the prices they say that 4 mechs of a kind per real day are low demand - so the prices go down...
I just wanted to stress that cause there are lot's of ppl who say that the Mech marked and Mech prices are based on demand wich is at most half of the truth!

Hrm... so the more people that join, or the more wars/duels that are fought, the higher the price goes? Rather than complain about that, I guess it's a good reason for people to work towards making mechs...

All mechs (and vehicles for that matter) on neveron have a drop rate. The drop rate effects the frequency of sales for a particular mech.
NASI first drops mechs according the drop rate. It then tracks how fast they sell. The faster they sell, the higher the price goes (might also be based somewhat on total numbers of mechs in game, but I'm not sure on that one), and the drop rate will get updated.
So popular mechs get steadily more popular, and unpopular ones get rarer and rarer, to the point that they no longer drop.
You'll notice too that the initial drop rates vary a lot by tonnage. So light mechs drop at a far higher rate than the big ones.

As a counter point to trend for the popular mechs to become more popular and the undesired mechs to become less desired, as a mechs drops more and more frequently, the price increases (see the STK-4N). As a less popular mech drops less frequently, the price drops (look at the HBK-4N). So in time the supply and demand balance out.

Not entirely true, the warhammer 6D and the Marauder 3D seem to be much rarer on the market even though they are one of the most popular mechs in neveron. So I also think there is a maximum of how much there can be in the game so that LW is flooded with the same mechs.

Supply and demand will only balance out in a static environment. In Neveron we have an expanding market (new players) increasing demand (empires growing larger) and no (major) competition for Mech sales. Judging from the continued increase in prices, I assume that the expansion of Neveron is causing a continuous increase in demand. Again, I think the only thing that will balance the market is competition for mech production. I just hope more empires can get to the point where they can manufacture mechs to compete with the computer, because as long as people grow their empires and more people join, prices are just going to continue to increase. Any other fix is only a patch.

The problem with those two designs is that they have gotten rather expensive. Which means that when they DO drop, they sit for a while. Quite frequently I see the same WHM-6Ds on the market for days. That means that NASI isn't going to drop them as frequently. But they're still bought fast enough to trip the "price increase" code. Now MAD-4As get bought so fast, that they probably have huge prices. I think that their base drop rate, way back in the day, was set very low, so that's why we don't see them on the market much (plus they're bought so fast). Has anyone bought one off the market in the past few months? If so, what was the price?
