History[edit]

The First Covenant Guards were formed as the military force for the Covenant Worlds, a microstate that formed after the rise of Fortress Republic. The First Covenant Guards were organized from planetary militia and mercenary units by Thaddeus Marik himself. They fought the Second Wolf Assault Cluster on New Olympia in 3139. They lost this encounter and Thaddeus Marik was killed in that action.[1]

In 3145 they were stationed on Bordon.[2]

The First participated in the Covenant Worlds' invasion of the Wolf Empire in 3151. The first battalion of the guard struck Callison and suffered minimal casualties due to unexpectedly linking up with a resistance movement led by Ariana Zou.[3]. The second battalion's invasion of Dubhe was considerably costlier, with almost a company lost to unexpected mass resistance from local IndustrialMech pilots, motivated to fight despite being hopelessly outmatched due to the Wolves having taken their families hostage.[4]. Elements of the Guards who struck Alhena on the other hand faced no resistance, instead finding themselves organizing humanitarian relief due to Alaric Ward having drafted the JumpShips required to keep the supplied for his push on Terra, causing planet wide shortages of food and water.[5]
