Formation[edit]
The Eighth Confederation Reserve Cavalry was one of three Reserve Cavalry regiments to be mustered by the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces between the Amaris Coup and the beginning of the First Succession War.[1][2]
The Dark Age[edit]
The Eighth Confederation Reserve Cavalry was reactivated in secret sometime before 3144 as one of the Hidden Lion regiments formed by Chancellor Daoshen Liao using stockpiled equipment.[3] This new CRC unit used the Augmented Regiment formations common to the CCAF by 3145.[4] They were a second-line regiment of the Sian Commonality.[5] The Eighth CRC was formed via the Capellan Confederation conscripting one member from every noble house in possession of a BattleMech.[3]
In 3145, the unit participated in Operation CELESTIAL REWARD. The Eighth CRC was part of the task force defeated in the first invasion of Tikonov. Five months later, the second invasion of Tikonov occurred but their poor performance in the previous attack relegated the regiment to guarding the attack force's drop zone. They were then assigned to guard the Taurian Concordat border far from any conflict. It is expected that the bulk of their personnel would be reassigned or cashiered as soon as possible.[3]

The Eighth CRC was known for being cowardly and would actively avoid conflict if they could.[3]

- - At this point in time the Eighth was a light-weight regiment operating at full strength and was stationed on Necromo.[2] In 2821 the unit was operating at just above half-strength, and was stationed on Andro.[2]
2830[edit]
8th Confederation Reserve Cavalry (Regiment/Green/Questionable)[7]
- Note: At this point in time the medium-weight unit was stationed on Andro with an operational readiness of 85 percent.[7] The unit was destroyed during the war.[7]
