The Brookeland system was home to at least one habitable world or construct and as of 3152 was located in the Tancredi Prefecture of the New Samarkand Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2]

System Description[edit]

Brookeland is located near the De Berry and Lyceum systems. It lies Spinward from Terra. The bright star at the center of the system is valued for its ability to quickly recharge K-F drives.[3][4][5][1]

System History[edit]

The Brookeland system was settled during or shortly before the Age of War, and by the end of the era was a part of the Federated Suns.[6]

Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

During the years of the Star League, the surface of Brookeland was covered by a vast mining and refining industry that had been expanding since the world was colonized centuries before. The mining operations for the vast quantities of iridium, silver, uranium, and titanium justified the presence of a Star League Defense Force garrison. The SLDF also utilized the system's bright sun by placing a recharge station in each of the system's primary jump points for fast interstellar troop movements.[3]

In 3015, the rogue mercenary group Circle of Eight was intent on pillaging a Star League supply depot that Interstellar Expeditions uncovered at an excavation site on Brookeland. It was potentially a forgotten city destroyed hundreds of years prior in the early Succession Wars which had the possibility of containing a data core, whether destroyed, corrupted, or heavily encrypted. The Circle of Eight sent several waves of armor and airborne units and caught the mercenary outfit protecting the dig site by surprise, inflicting heavy losses. Just as they were about to secure the area, Sebastian Spears sent Nik's Cavaliers to reinforce the defenders and help push the attackers back, insuring its protection and discouraging the Circle of Eight from further hostilities.[46]

Geography[edit]

In the MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Campaign Mission "Last Man Standing," Brookeland Prime is depicted as a temperate coniferous forest biome with excellent visibility.[46]
