History[edit]

Formed as part of the Canopian-Taurian Treaty, the First Raventhir Cuirassiers were formed to protect Canopian interests in the New Colony Region. After they were fully formed, they formed a close bond with the Concordat Cuirassiers; the two regiments respected each other greatly, and shared a similar distrust of Inner Sphere tyranny. In 3059 the First Raventhir detached several companies to inspect the New Colony Region and the Colonial Marshals charged with protecting it.[1]

In 3067 the First Raventhir Cuirassiers were sent to Joppa to assist Lockhardt's Ironsides in pirate hunting activities. This posting to the backwaters of the Magistracy meant little opportunity for upgraded equipment, and kept the unit's morale fairly low. Only the units that fought off pirates had any higher morale.[2] The unit was split fairly evenly between Joppa and Dainmar Majoris.[3]

In 3079 the First Raventhir Cuirassiers were assigned to Thraxa and Vixen.[4]

The First Raventhir Cuirassiers spent the Jihad defending the people of their garrison planets against attacks from the Calderon's Commando and Shen-sè Tian pirate bands, rather than facing the Word of Blake forces on the core Magistracy worlds. The First Cuirassiers had no upgraded equipment and would be nothing more than a stream of targets for the Blakists, but against the pirate bands they were more than effective. In fact they were so good that they split into several smaller commands and engaged in antipiracy operations.[5]

In the 3090s the First Raventhir was assigned to garrison Addasar, the main port of entry for traders from the Fronc Reaches. They have fought pirates and raiders nearly continuously since they were first posted there, and in 3145 they were as busy as ever.[6]
