Huthrin Vandel served as Precentor New Avalon, advocate Precentor on the First Circuit and overseeing command of all ComStar hyperpulse generators in the Federated Suns.
History[edit]
Huthrin Vandel joined the ComStar order during the Third Succession War, being selected by Primus Allen Rusenstein for the important post of Precentor New Avalon.[2] Any loyalty Vandel felt towards Rusenstein was short-lived, ultimately joining with the rest of the First Circuit to ask the Primus to resign for his failures in the Jolly Roger Affair and the inability to discover the origins of the mysterious Wolf's Dragoons.[3]
Vandel would oversee the worsening relations between ComStar and House Davion during First Prince Hanse Davion's reign, which saw "The Fox" demand half of all construction and upgrade work on ComStar facilities in the entire Federated Suns be performed by local labor. Publicly supposedly a means to stimulate economic growth in his realm, ComStar's First Circuit instead saw the move as an attempt for Davion intelligence assets to get increased knowledge of the design and workings of the Blessed Order's HPG compounds, with Vandel informing the FedSuns government that such requirements are unacceptable despite the realm's refusal to back down.[4]
Vandel would remain a member of the First Circuit during the Fourth Succession War, during meeting on August 21 3028 asked if Precentor ROM Tojo Jarlath had taken actions to avoid underestimating Hanse Davion and the massive Armed Forces of the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces military buildups.[5]
Continuing to hold his position on the First Circuit after the death of Julian Tiepolo and the ascension of Primus Myndo Waterly, Vandel would join Precentor Tharkad Ulthan Everson in arguing against her promotion of both younger and ardent supporters such as Sharilar Mori and Gardner Riis to help tip control of the First Circuit in her favor.[6]
In January 3052, Huthrin Vandel remained Precentor New Avalon.[1] Along with Precentor Tharkad, Vandel was deeply concerned by Primus Waterly's handling of the Clan Invasion, choosing to leak word of the upcoming Battle of Tukayyid to the leaders of both halves of the Federated Commonwealth. [7]
Remaining as Precentor New Avalon following the ComStar Schism and sundering of the Federated Commonwealth, by the end of FedCom Civil War failing health forced Huthrin Vandel into retirement, with First Precentor Gavin Dow selecting Christine Harwell as his replacement. [8]
