Referred to as the "Hero of Panzyr", Karen Andris is a Aurigan Coalition Military officer, most notably serving as commander of the ACM's elite Rampart Company.[1]

A native of the Aurigan Coalition world of Panzyr, Karen Andris had a relatively quiet existence serving the planet's ruling House Decimis until the Aurigan Directorate launched its coup in 3022. Enraged at the authoritarian Directorate's efforts to dismantle the House that she and her family swore to serve, Andris ultimately joined a pro-Decimis paramilitary group called the "Second Decimis Fusiliers" and became a partisan fighter. When Lady Kamea Arano announced the formation of the Arano Restoration on Weldry, House Decimis pledged itself to her service, and the Fusiliers were quick to follow suit. [1]
Reaching the rank of Lieutenant, Andris would be dubbed the "Hero of Panzyr" in recognition of her actions during the Arano Restoration's liberation of Panzyr, in truth most of the heavy lifting during the liberation would be performed by the former Markham's Marauders mercenary unit employed by Lady Kamea, but her notable assistance to mercenaries and her lifelong support for House Decimis made her an inspirational figure on Panzyr and a folk hero across the Aurigan Reach. Her fame became bitter sweet when Directorate troops destroyed Panzyr's crops during the final days of the Civil War, leading to a global famine with nearly half a million people dying due to starvation. Her patriotism to the Aurigan Coalition shattered by these deaths, Karen Andris opted to retire from the military. [1] [2]
Enough loyalty to her nominal sovereign remained that Andris would travel of the Coalition's capital of Coromodir VI in response to a summons from High Lady Kamea, meeting with her and Lord Alexander Madeira on 18 July 3026. Despite her reluctance, both would successfully convince her to command Operation RESTORED HOPE, a military campaign to recover Aurgian Coalition BattleMechs still in the hands of remaining pro-Directorate forces and other deserters. Andris would ultimately recover over forty-six 'Mechs, forty as salvage and six intact, as well as eliminate six Directorate-sympathizing splinter groups. [1] [2]
Over the course of RENEWED HOPE, Andris coordinated with more than a dozen Frontier-based mercenary commands, also tasked with evaluating individual MechWarriors for future recruitment into secret project that culminated in creation of Rampart Company, of which she received command. Despite her earlier hesitation Andris quietly excelled in her role as commander of the unusual Rampart Company, making no moves to return to civilian life after RESTORED HOPE as she originally intended.
