BRIEFING

Attack the security base, providing cover for the command team to subvert the base computers. Having acquired Katrina’s current destination, escort the armored personnel carrier to safety and prep for immediate liftoff.

Rabid Fox: Okay, Spectre, the Archon has been taken into custody by her brother, Victor. No charges have been pressed, and as best we can discern, they are moving her into forced exile. The base we are going to hit has records of their intended destination. Once we have that, we can attempt a rescue. You and your people need to mount a diversionary assault while we make a raid on the base mainframe. We’re making a chopper insertion. Ensure the team arrives safety, and at least broadcasts back the information. Team extraction is secondary to at least acquiring the information.

DURING MISSION

Spectre: This base is fairly isolated, so we shouldn’t have to worry about enemy reinforcements. Our main concern is on-site defenders, turret defenses, and local patrols. Report ready status and go weapons hot.

Beowulf: Beowulf, ready op.

Blaze: This is Blaze. Ready op.

Mustang: This is Mustang. Ready op.

Spectre: There’s the base. Engage all hostile contacts. Foxes are inbound and need a safe LZ.

Den Leader: On site. Chopper clear.

Spectre: Base is clear. Foxes are going for insertion.

Den Leader: This is Den Leader. We’re heading in. Internal security neutralized. Pack is in place.

Rabid Fox: All units, be advised, heavy chopper squadron and fast attack lance inbound from the east. We’re running out of time, here.

Den Leader: Pack needs two minutes.

Spectre: Moving to engage incoming forces. So much for limited reinforcements.

Rabid Fox: They may try to blow the base from a distance. Engage at best speed.

Den Leader: Got it! They moved her to Arc-Royal! Arc-Royal! Extract, now!

Rabid Fox: We have some more ground fire over here. The extraction chopper has been destroyed. Seeking alternate exodus.

Spectre: There were some unmanned APCs south of the main facility. You may be able to commandeer one.

Rabid Fox: Spectre, get your people out of there. It won’t take long for the Davions to bring down a DropShip on site. We have unfinished business off of Avalon.

Spectre: But we can cover Den Leader if…

Rabid Fox: Negative. Break off, now.

Spectre: Roger. Exit point Gamma. Good luck, Den Leader.

Spectre: We’re there!

Den Leader: We made it to the APC. En route to AARGH!!

Spectre: Clear at Gamma. Returning to Fox Camp. Those men didn’t have to die.

Rabid Fox: They knew the risks, same as you, Spectre. This is about the Archon, not us.

Spectre: Roger. Hope the planet name was worth it.

Rabid Fox: If we can get this info to Clan Wolf, their Khan will take care of freeing Katrina.

AFTERMATH

Castle: You don’t have to go through with this, sir. I once said I’d follow where you lead, Commander, but I can’t watch you throw your life away on some longshot gamble on joining the Clans. Those vermin murdered my parents, and millions beside them. There is a base we can take on New Canton for ourselves – start again in the Chaos March. Katrina is gone. You’re not going to get her back. Please, don’t undo everything we’ve done here. Do the right thing!
