Moroushi's Independent Assault Battalion was a Draconis Combine unit. Given the unit's name and since no parent unit was named, it seems to have been a free-floating battalion. They were described as a "crack independent assault battalion".[1]

The Union-class DropShip Electrophore was associated with the unit.[1]

History[edit]

Succession Wars[edit]

Moroushi's Independent Assault Battalion indirectly took part in the Galtor III campaign of 3025. During the first wave of DCMS operations against Galtor, the unit was sent to raid Marduk.[2] They crushed the defending units, which served to deny Galtor of the reinforcements that would have come from or be routed through Marduk.

Three months later, the battalion was crushed in a hot drop assault by Meade's Battalion of the 33rd Avalon Hussars (supported by a number of other, smaller units), who dropped right on top of Moroushi's position. Although Moroushi had anticipated an attack, the attackers' unexpected bravado unnerved the defenders' company commanders to the point where Moroushi's Independent Assault Battalion was vanquished in the field with minimal losses to the attackers.[1] Moroushi's battalion suffered 89.112% losses.[3]

No other mention of Moroushi's Independent Assault Battalion was made, suggesting it was removed from the rolls after the crushing defeat on Marduk.

Notes[edit]

  • The exact nature of the unit is not made clear in the sole sourcebook featuring them. This, combined with the fact that independent battalions are not otherwise known to exist in the Draconis Combine, led fans to question if it may have been an irregular force or perhaps even a mercenary unit. However, when queried about this, Assistant Line Developer Ray Arrastia explicitly clarified[4] that they were "House troops".
