History[edit]

The Mount Song was a Baron-class destroyer in service with the Capellan Confederation Navy. It was active since at least 2765, but was likely constructed closer to 2520 when the Baron-class was launched.[1][2] In 2789, the Mount Song and a sister ship, the CCS Changsha, were acting as a part of the orbital defenses of Andurien, the capital world of the Andurien Commonality, when the Free Worlds League Military invaded the system as one of the first blows in a determined campaign to recapture the Andurien systems that had been so heavily contested during the Age of War.[3]

The Free Worlds League task force was substantial; the ground forces assigned to capturing Andurien consisted of the Fourth and Eleventh Atrean Dragoons, plus four regiments of mercenary forces drawn from Baldwin's Cobras Heavy Brigade and Gladstone's Gladiators, heavily outnumbering the defending Andurien Heavy Guard and the Twelfth Andurien Hussars. The task force escorts outnumbered the defending aerospace forces by an equally substantial margin; while the Changsha and Mount Song were able to obtain some assistance from two Carrack-class transports, the four Capellan WarShips faced little chance against four Atreus-class battleships, four League-class destroyers and the Soyal-class heavy cruiser FWLS Vrishabha. Between them, the Capellan WarShips managed to cripple the Vrishabha, leaving her to crash into the surface of the moon Mulhacen, but the Changsha, Mount Song and one of the Carracks were all destroyed, and the second Carrack was captured.[3]
