9th Illician Rangers
|9TH ILLICIAN RANGERS: ROADRUNNERS|
|Unit Profile (as of 3067)|
|CO||Colonel Kenneth Koppel|
During the Succession wars the unit changed from a medium to a heavy regiment. They acted as a primary raiding force and took heavy losses in this campaign.
First stationed at the Draconis border, they were later relocated to the Capellan march for rest and refit. They fought during the FedCom Civil War for Victor Steiner-Davion and paid for their loyalty in blood.
Fed-Com Civil War
On Sirdar, together with the 1st Federated Suns Armored Cavalry, the 21st Illician Rangers and the Davion Light Guards forced the defending March Militia to surrender but suffered moderate losses during this victory.
The Ninth Rangers forced the defending St. Cyr’s Armored Hussars on Sendalor to a retreat in 3068. Later in the campaign the Rangers raided Homestead successfully.
The Homestead raids found the Ninth attacking elements of the 3rd Capellan Reserve Cavalry. The defending CCAF troops split into lance sized units and proceeded to harass the invading mercenaries. These units were particularly popular with the locals, who despised the Ninth.
Colonel Kenneth Koppel will retire soon after 19 years in the command seat.
The sophisticated equipment of today gives the regiment the opportunity to deliver a quick strike, despite their heavy machines.
