The Periphery Star Guard was a mercenary unit which worked with ComStar and Interstellar Expeditions.[1]

History[edit]

Formed from smaller mercenary commands who had worked in the past for ComStar's Explorer Corps, the Periphery Star Guard were active coreward of the Lyran Alliance. They were best known for having clashed with the Green Ghosts pirate group.

In 3068, their new contract brought them to Poulsbo. Their task was to bolster the Lyran Border against Free Worlds League raids. This occurred a few months later when a task force of the Sixth Orloff Grenadiers and the Second Fusiliers of Oriente made planetfall and delivered the defenders, the Periphery Star Guard, Harper's Heretics and the local militia, a bloody fight. The remaining lance of the Heretics was integrated into the Guards. Khon Kaen was the next place where they met the Sixth Orloff and again suffered horrendous losses. The command retreated back to Loburg again for rest and refit, trying to secure the StarCorps factories on the planet.

In 3069, the Periphery Star Guard were hired by Interstellar Expeditions and went to Blue Water, the former Rim Worlds Republic world named Monthey. There, they rebuilt and trained new warriors, as well as guarded an archeological site based around a sunken Union-class DropShip. After a fight with some pirates, they were hired by Chandrasekhar Kurita.[2]

In 3073, the Periphery Star Guard were stationed on Arcturus along with several other mercenary units in the employ by Chandrasekhar Kurita. While there, they were attacked by the Opacus Venatori, 40th Shadow Division, Burr's Black Cobras, and the 2nd Division (Word of Blake). During this assault, the 40th and Black Cobras attacked the Periphery Star Guard's base, and Blakist double agents in the Star Seeds mercenary unit activated bombs and destroyed the Star Guard's DropShip. Only quick action by the Crescent Hawks saved the last two members of the Star Guard.[3]
