History[edit]

Formation[edit]

The Second Wolf Guards Grenadiers was formed in the first half of the 3060s from Warden minded warriors transferred from other clusters. It was assigned to the newly forming Omega Galaxy along with other warden clusters, and in 3067 the Second was stationed on Nyserta.[3]

Jihad[edit]

In 3070 Clan Hell's Horses attacked Nyserta and the second refused to be taken in a Harvest Trial. They fought for three weeks against the 77th Mechanized Cavalry. Eventually a single Binary of surviving warriors managed to escape the planet and retreat to the main Wolf Occupation Zone.[4] The Second were moved to Heiligendreuz after the Jihad in 3079 and transferred Kappa Galaxy to strengthen it.[1]

Republic[edit]

In 3085 the unit was located on Diosd.[5] Kappa Galaxy underwent an expansion between the 3090s and 3130 after decades of being used as a training formation by the Rasalhague Dominion and developing a reputation for the devious use of conventional forces because of the shortage of BattleMechs within Kappa. Assigned to garrison duties during Operation HAMMERFALL, the creation of the Wolf Empire led to the need to form new garrison Galaxies, and the Second and the other units of Kappa were again subject to a winnowing out of 'Mechs and warriors as it was felt that their personnel would be ideal for managing the honorless Spheroid personnel being incorporated into the new formations.[6]

Dark Age[edit]

In 3142 the Second Wolf Guards defended Sargasso from the Ninth Talon Cluster. The Second used a large number of Aesir AA vehicles to hold off the Ninth's AeroSpace Fighter support. The other elements of the Second weren't able to hold off the Ninth, and the Aesir's command post was destroyed.[7]

The Second was stationed in 3145 on New Olympia.[8]

By 3145 the Second and the other elements of Kappa were operating at barely above half-strength as a result of the loss of personnel and equipment, but the peace treaty between the reborn Free Worlds League and the Wolf Empire meant that it was unlikely they would be called upon to deal with a major conflict.[6]
