As part of the Sian Dragoons, the Sixteenth Sian Dragoons were a part of the largest BattleMech brigade in the history of the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces - both during the Age of War, and then again in the closing decades of the Star League era as the CCAF began rapidly expanding and reactivating regiments - and a regiment that could trace its origins back to when the first WAM-B BattleMechs were issued to support the tanks of the Sian Lancers.[2]
The Sixteenth Sian Dragoons regiment was known for its harsh training and discipline. In fact the discipline was so harsh that the unit was compared to a penal unit. In 2765 they were stationed on Arn.[2]
During the Star League Era the Sixteenth was a "sink" unit used by the Strategios to contain soldiers who were chronically disruptive but were still too valuable to be dismissed from service. Often these warriors would transfer into the Sixteenth with several other "problem children" from their original unit. As a result they weren't typically excellent at full strength operations, but the individual commands were quite skilled in operating at the company and battalion level. The Sixteenth was separated into smaller units and stationed along the Confederation's borders with the Magistracy of Canopus and the Taurian Concordat. They frequently fought bandits, and had to rely on civilian JumpShips for transportation.[3]

- - At this point in time the Dragoons were a light-weight regiment operating at full strength and were stationed on Arn.[4] In 2821 the unit was operating at just above half-strength and were stationed on Arn.[4]

16th Sian Dragoons (Regiment/Green/Reliable)[1]
- Note: At this point in time the light-weight unit was stationed on Courcellete with an operational readiness of 119 percent.[1] The unit was destroyed during the war.[1]

Star League Era[edit]
The Sixteenth are at the bottom of the CCAF's logistical priority list. As a result when randomly determining 'Mechs any 2 or 12 roll must be rerolled. In addition apply a -2 modifier when determining lance type.[5]
