Talk:MechWarrior (disambiguation)

What the new Mech Warrior game just announced? Why isn't it on this list? 78.97.190.10 18:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

The game remains untitled, it was only a promotional video to try get investment into the product. It maybe best hold off writing something more on it comes out. -- Wrangler 18:25, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
That sounds reasonable, but I don't think I saw a mention of it anywhere on this wiki. 78.97.190.10 18:43, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Edit:It's one thing to limit speculation, but an article for the game should exist under one name or another. 78.97.190.10 18:45, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Looking forward to your article, then! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 18:53, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Care to give me a suggestion for a title? 78.97.190.10 18:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Mechwarrior:3015 -- Wrangler 20:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it's best to not actually place an unofficial title for the upcoming game to avoid confusion. People might post questions to boards everywhere with the Mechwarrior: 3015 name as an official title. Might just name it Mechwarrior - as generic as it gets. -- Deimos 21:28, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
As MechWarrior is already an article, you /do/ need to have it differentiated. Anything we give can be a temporary title, that redirects when the actual is provided. I'd recommend something like "MechWarrior (forthcoming game)", "MechWarrior (2010 game)", etc. Think about how Wikipedia does it. Info on movie sequels sometimes lead to their own articles, so they have to create a temporary (or working) title.
Also, we can come up with a whole bunch of redirects of possible search terms that redirect to a section of MechWarrior IV article, where the next game is mentioned as forthcoming: "In July 2009, Smith & Tinker announed the development of a as-yet untitled MechWarriorGame." Actually, I'd prefer that method, with additional details added until it stands on its own.
But, in the end, the motivated Editor who creates the article sets the consensus, and consensus can change what it is named (and how it is handled). No one is gonna delete a stub article, but they may change the way it is prevented. The important thing is as the original poster indicated: something needs to be said about it so that people can come here for information. He's absolutely right about that. The question is: who cares enough to actually do it? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 22:45, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Right now, on Wikipedia, article on this Mechwarrior game is be referred to as MechWarrior (reboot)[1]. Since when trailer/interview was shown. Weisman had said it was not be considered Mechwarrior V. Since we can't come to agreement to what it should be referred to. I recommend to use the "reboot" name until something more solid comes out. We don't know when its suppose to come out or who making it. -- Wrangler 15:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Good job, Wrangler! And sinec the article is already written, we should import it here (and update it ourselves). I'll leave it up to someone else to do immediately, though I might hit it sometime this weekend if not done. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 16:06, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I have just imported the article and named it MechWarrior (Video Game Series reboot), will start some minor updating as soon as I can. --Dmon 17:30, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, Dmon. If you get the chance, maybe leave a redirect link/notice in MWIV? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
