Talk:Solaris Games

The segregation of Solaris info is not incorrect and is cited by many Btech novels - when I can cite them I'll bring the info back. It's not irrelevant whatsoever to the Solaris Games and in fact is one of the reasons for their popularity - another Btech-novel citable fact. — The preceding unsigned comment was posted by 165.230.65.52 (talkcontribs) 9:04, 27 November 2007 (CST).

This article is not about Solaris VII or Solaris City, it is about the Solaris Games. Yes, Solaris City is divided into districts by nationality. That is relevant to Solaris, but not this article by itself. Something about the nationalistic rivalry between factions is relevant, but that was not the information that was added to the article. Classic Battletech Mappack[edit]

Does anyone know which product this actually refers to? One of the section headers matches up with a single (misnumbered) page of the Gamemaster's Book from the box set; the rest don't seem to match any of the Solaris products nor the various MapPack products. It appears it is supposed to refer to Mappack: Solaris VII. The page references match up. --HF22 (talk) 04:39, 6 March 2022 (EST)
That's what I get for going on section title references. Thanks. Madness Divine (talk) 11:26, 6 March 2022 (EST)

Mech-scaled sports[edit]

By any chance, would this include Battlemech-scale baseball? How would the pitching be done, via AC/20, Gauss or Rifle projectile cannon or by throwing a giant ball with a 'mech hand? What about batting? Any blunt melee weapon or more specific ones just for the games? Any restrictions on class or weight? Special rules compared to human-size baseball? Etcetera.

I would like some details on this, please. Kerry, Son of Spyro (talk) 22:42, 23 August 2023 (EDT)

What you are after is the Noisiel Summer Games for all your 'Mech sports needs, but doesn't have a full article yet on Sarna. The Touring the Stars: Noisiel PDF has the rules you are after. Cyc (talk) 02:47, 24 August 2023 (EDT)
Got a link to download that PDF? Kerry, Son of Spyro (talk) 18:22, 24 August 2023 (EDT)
Here's the Catalyst Store page - fun product. --Tumult&Travail (talk) 18:25, 24 August 2023 (EDT)

i'm now curious about other Mech-scaled activities that wouldn't be considered sports or combat. Like for example, a Mech-scaled marching band or military parade. Kerry, Son of Spyro (talk) 00:03, 29 September 2023 (EDT)

Also Noisiel Summer Games, mention of talent shows, parades, costume contests, one-on-one dance-offs and "Mech-Fu" tournaments in the original rule-less/fluff writeup in Mercenaries Supplemental II. We really need a full article on it... Cyc (talk) 00:24, 29 September 2023 (EDT)
Seriously? OK, this is something I can't just read about. I mean, I'm getting crazy images in my mind of something like an Atlas playing a tuba or a Hunchback with custom arms playing a Trombone, so this is something I gotta SEE! Noisiel definitely needs a full article, preferably with pictures. LOTS of pictures.
On a semi-related side note, was the hero Hunchback Grid-Iron [HBK-GI] in Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries meant to be a reference to GI JOE's Captain Grid-Iron? Because the paint scheme in MW5 and the uniform on the Joe in question, at least in the GI JOE DIC cartoon, is very close! Add that to the ID and the name... Is this a reference to someone's favorite GI JOE or am I way off base here? Kerry, Son of Spyro (talk) 19:25, 29 September 2023 (EDT)
Just googled the G.I Joe character and the Grid-Iron Hunchback and had a look. I am not really seeing it, an American Football theme and the use of Yellow and dark green. It could be there, but I honestly think it is more a coincidence.--Dmon (talk) 06:38, 29 September 2023 (EDT)
I'm way off-base, got it. Kerry, Son of Spyro (talk) 19:25, 29 September 2023 (EDT)
