I suggest that we rename this article "Unity City (Vessel)". I say this because Unity City is an actual location on Terra. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 18:32, 21 August 2015 (PDT)

Is it a location on Terra with an article or sub-article writeup? If it is, then an otheruses tag at the top of this article would work. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 02:15, 22 August 2015 (PDT)
Nothing as yet, but of the 11 articles currently linking here only two (the Ocean and the SLS Unity City redirect) refer to the WarShip, the rest are for the Court of the Star League/Unity City on Terra. Cyc (talk) 04:50, 22 August 2015 (PDT)
Exactly. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 06:08, 22 August 2015 (PDT)
I'm undecided, because locations on planets should have redirects to the planet section within the relevant system article. They should not have their own articles unless they're really notable locations though I can't even think of an example right now. You may want to add a clarifying Otheruses tag at the article header. But I don't see a Unity City article about the location in the forseeable future. Frabby (talk) 09:20, 22 August 2015 (PDT)
All - or at least a majority - of the military academies have their own articles, even though each is technically just a planetary location. I'm not sure about the statement that only notable locations should have an article though - it's not something I've tried tackling in any form, but when Revanche took on the Luthien article as an effort to datamine absolutely everything he could out of Jihad Turning Points: Luthien, all of the various planetary locations got individual articles, which were then listed within a scrollable table in the main article. I don't know if that was an individual project or an agreed standard for the planets project, and I've shied away from trying to look in any more detail. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 00:35, 24 August 2015 (PDT)
While we arguably could turn anything into an article, we actually have a lot of nice detail on Unity City to justify one: how it was built and functioned, the first bloody shooting battles of the Amaris Coup and its fate after the Star League's collapse. But who would have the time to add it... Cyc (talk) 02:55, 24 August 2015 (PDT)
Frabby - I would be totally fine if Unity City was a redirect to a section of the Terra article.
BrokenMnemonic - I feel military academies are certainly more than just locations. Many have their own training units, and they really fit into a special category.
Cyc - Excellent point.
My underlying point is that the Unity City article should not direct to the WarShip, and that this article should therefore be renamed. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 08:25, 24 August 2015 (PDT)
Ideally (in my 'version' of the wiki, that also came with blackjack and hookers), everything would have their own article, but I doubt I'll ever complain if an article I've created is merged into another article of a larger scope (presuming no info is lost and a re-direct is provided). As for military academies, I agree with you they should (generally) merit their own articles, as would articles on capital cities. BUT...until someone chooses to craft an individual article that can stand on it's own (via consensus), I won't have an issue with it being started within a planetary article. I also agree, SLS Unity City should be tagged (in the article title) ahead of time as a warship, as it is less known than the actual Unity City. In my mind, it just lessens the opportunity for that initial confusion by the reader. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 11:51, 24 August 2015 (PDT)
I agree with most of what's been said - when people hear "Unity City" they typically think of the city, not a spacecraft. I'll go and create a disambiguation page for now.
Also, I actually agree with Revanche's vision in the long run. The Luthien approach is the gold standard, it's just that we don't have the manpower by a long shot to create meaningful individual articles for landmarks on individual planets in a universe with more than 3000 known settled systems. I'm mindful of the fact that whenever in the past I've opted to go the easy way it came back to bite me a few years later. (Like, I wish I had never created the List of minor mercenary units...). Understand, I'm not suggesting we do that either. I was just referring to this particular article.
Question - is (Individual WarShip) consistent with what we've done in the past? ClanWolverine101 (talk) 19:49, 24 August 2015 (PDT)
Yes, it is the new naming scheme for individual spacecraft that I'm currently implementing. Frabby (talk) 00:04, 25 August 2015 (PDT)
