History[edit]

The Thera-class carrier Thessaly was under construction in 3067 and was due to enter service in 3070, at which point she would become the sixth vessel in her class to enter service, following the earlier FWLS Santorini, FWLS Sardis, FWLS Corinth, FWLS Delphi, and FWLS Delos. Also constructed over the same period of time were a pair of Eagle-class frigates intended to serve as escorts for the Thessaly, the FWLS Leodegrance and FWLS Percival.[1]

Two of the sister ships to the Thessaly, the FWLS Corinth and FWLS Sardis, were suborned by the Word of Blake during the Jihad, along with a number of escort ships; while the Thessaly escaped being captured or controlled by the Blakists, one of her escort vessels, the Percival, was taken and was subsequently destroyed while fighting for the Blakists in the New Earth system in 3078.[2] It was subsequently confirmed that construction of the Thessaly had never been completed, and that loyalist Free Worlds League forces had in fact scuttled her before construction could finish to prevent the Thessaly falling into the hands of the Word of Blake.[3]

Notes[edit]

The destruction of the Thessaly and seven other Free Worlds League WarShips unaccounted for specifically by name in sourcebooks was confirmed by the BattleTech Developer Øystein Tvedten via the Catalyst Game Labs Ask The Writers Forum:

Delphi (Thera-Class) - Destroyed by Word of Blake, 3068

With regards,
