42nd Dieron Regulars[edit]

Hello Doneve, the 42nd is not listed in the War of 3039 Deployment Taple at page 138. With best regards Neuling 11:26, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Ah ok thanks, i want only to make the references a little bit easier.--Doneve 11:30, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Remind me...[edit]

How do you make an archive from your talk page? Like you and most others do with the "year" archives at the top of this page? Thanks! ClanWolverine101 13:35, 11 January 2012 (PST)

Point of View[edit]

Hello Doneve, I follow the way that Dmon describe. I take a project and worked it partly. With the underconstruction - sub it will make it easier for the others to see that the article is in an partly rework. I anknowledge the way about the references. You can look at my latest references and that the way that the others and you prefer. Over the weekend I accomplished my goal to update all composition histories to the level of 3025. The next step is 3040. This time I will include the (underconstruction) sub, because I will expande the composition with 3050-3054-3059 until 3064 - 3067 - 3079 and in April at least 3085. That shows the development of the individual unit in an better way and I prefer for the Brigade site that we devide the units in former and active, because it give a clear view about the current strength an as compromise I will include only the strength for the different years. like 3054 - 10 regiments , 3085 - 4 regiments. That isn't hugh data but it helps me alot. I will also include by the mercanery commands the faction at the corresponding era which the were working for. I hope that make it helps to understand my work better. Sometimes I rush the projects to fast but I working to improve the quality of my work. Neuling 13:01, 15 January 2012 (PST)

This i a good point for me, sorry for my raw talking, but i fix some thinks on the military pages, i hope you appriciade this, have a good time.--Doneve 13:15, 15 January 2012 (PST)

Some Recommendations

  • 1/please leave the format of the Brigade articles alone.. Do not fix what is not broken!
  • 2/instead of just putting

1st Regiment, 12 Star Guards (Veteran/Reliable)- LCAF

How about

1st Regiment, 12 Star Guards (Veteran/Reliable)

- (Under contract to the LCAF)

To me this makes it a little more ARTICLE than LIST even if it is a very small bit of text

  • 3/ Possibly try putting the details of the units commanding officer in the officers section of the article?

Thanks --Dmon 13:23, 15 January 2012 (PST)

Thanks a lot to point out this.--Doneve 14:14, 15 January 2012 (PST)

New Way to work[edit]

I hope you see that I incorporate the adcives of you admins in my new work. I will ad a few new brigades to sarna like Tamarind March Militia or Tamar March Militia and Sarna March Militia. I think it is the work worth because they saw some form of combat and we have enougth information to create solide articles for them. Also the Lyranc Alliance lake any form of militia brigade pages. In the field manual they are devided into 10 different commands (Field Manual Lyran Alliance page 108) each with its own unique color and commanding officer. And what do you think about the thought to include also the territorial structure of the FCAF of the DCMS in to the corresponding faction site like

Valexa PDZ (Valexa Command)
Commander: Marshal Vivian Chou
Second-in-Command: Leftenant General Quentin Dratherss
Regular Mech Strength: 1 Regiment, 1 Battalion
Mercenary Mech Strength: 0 Regiments

in shape of a table? Neuling 13:09, 16 January 2012 (PST)

Hy i make some changes on your example, take a look, and give me some response, thanks.--Doneve 13:13, 16 January 2012 (PST)

200px

Valexa PDZ (Valexa Command)

Take a look on this link Planets Project Reference Gallery there a lot of maps, we don't need maps on unit and brigade pages, please stard a discussion on the BattleTechWiki:Project Military Commands talk page, before you stard contributions.--Doneve 13:33, 16 January 2012 (PST)

Rulesbox[edit]

Afternoon Doneve, about you changing back the rulesbox on the Dieron Regulars... Is there a policy or anything I have not seen? All the rules boxes I see with actual content are a different colour and have subtly different wording that the rulesbox that is in the Help:CreateCommandArticle template. Is the template out of date?

Thanks --Dmon 08:14, 17 January 2012 (PST)

Hy Dmon, Mbear fixed the code of the infobox, to many users had problems to show this right, and he made the code easier, i talk to him to give a statement of the changed code, and fix the policy.--Doneve 08:18, 17 January 2012 (PST)
Ah ok yeah so the box is out of date.. that is rather annoying. Thank you for the help. --Dmon 08:22, 17 January 2012 (PST)

View of work[edit]

Hello Doneve, please give me a short response how you consider my latest work and if its meet the common policy. Tnx Neuling 09:48, 17 January 2012 (PST)

Hy it looks good for me, ok some minor changes by the references, you had a typo in it, Objective not Objectiv, but i fix this when i double check the pages.--Doneve 09:59, 17 January 2012 (PST)

Have I made you admins angry?[edit]

I read the messages from clanwolverine to Frappy and read to my suprise that he consider my work a mess as a hole. I agree with you that my work was in the past not so good but please regard my work now. I listen to you and change my work like the references. I talk to you more often (If I wrong about it correct me please). My writting style has im proved and please tell me which of my work is considered plagarism and I will take it offline immedatly. I have no idea how I can calm the situation. Please response. Tnx Neuling 08:35, 18 January 2012 (PST)

Please continue this discussion at my talk page, so that it isn't spread over several different pages. Frabby 11:22, 18 January 2012 (PST)

Griffin Section[edit]

Hello Doneve, I had response and offer to remove all content which I had publisched at the site I had reworked my "manufacturing places" at the Griffin section and show you what could be a compromise from my side. I hope you are satisfied and in a few hours the purification of the site from my work will start. Neuling 12:50, 18 January 2012 (PST)

At first please take a look on some Manufacturing pages how i handle the references (i take a lot of work on it, and i delete any content that don't match), i know there is a lot of data minining, at first look to the various TRO's if the variant is produced by this manufacuter and planet, and don't throw any in, please double check the sources, make a minor edit, i look on it and give you some response, what is ok and what not, as second we have the mech infobox with a manufacturing row, then you come to the manufacturer page.--Doneve 13:04, 18 January 2012 (PST)

Tnx for advice[edit]

Tnx for your help and I corrected the pages.Neuling 11:48, 19 January 2012 (PST)

The correct way to work[edit]

Hello Doneve, I will only know if the way I work the last few day the correct one or should I change something. I will add Objectiv Raids to the Biblography section on the next round where the entry is missing. Your task is not to chnage my reference to the good. I think how I use it at the moment is the correct one. I wait for your response. Neuling 00:11, 22 January 2012 (PST)

Hy i appriciate your corrections, and you are on the right way, keep up your work on this standard, thanks.--Doneve 02:38, 22 January 2012 (PST)

Tnx[edit]

Tnx Doneve that you fixing my broken ref links be for I could do. I hope you are satisfied with the rework of the ISF article over the next days the remaining articles like LOKI and DMI will follow. I finished my example for the force structure but I doens't know where will it be put best placed. Perhaps you have an good idea.Neuling 13:42, 22 January 2012 (PST)

No problem dude, i know ref. notes etc. are not easy to handle, when you need support talk to me, i like your force structure article from the FWLM, i think we set up a link on the Free Worlds League main page, good work.--Doneve 13:52, 22 January 2012 (PST)

ISF[edit]

Hello Doneve, I'm at the final phase to end the ISF article please give me a response about it. Neuling 10:51, 23 January 2012 (PST)

Hy really good work, ok some minor grammar and spelling problems, and i miss some links, but it looks very good to me.--Doneve 11:03, 23 January 2012 (PST)

Pictures[edit]

Hello Doneve, I could provide you the pictures from the old House Books Steiner, Davion, Kurita and Liao. The Marik book is only black and white. Have you ideas for such material? :) Neuling 11:09, 23 January 2012 (PST)

No, i have only House Davion, House Marik with pics, i searched on the BTforum but i don't found it!!--Doneve 11:14, 23 January 2012 (PST)
I could provide the pictues and you could put them at the right place. What do you think about my offer? Neuling 11:21, 23 January 2012 (PST)
Good deal.--Doneve 11:24, 23 January 2012 (PST)
I had uploaded all available portraits from House Kurita. Tomorrow I can do the same with Dresses/uniform, awards + decorations, ranks, crest of the brigade. Please give me a response of you are satisfied with my work and if it the work worth to upload them.Neuling 14:04, 23 January 2012 (PST)
This was a great hand in hand workship, thanks a lot :).--Doneve 14:06, 23 January 2012 (PST)
I added more pictures to the gallery. I have a question how to build a reference for a picture from sarna.net picture database like [[1]] because I will include those for several pictures. These pictues are better as the existing one? tnx. Neuling 12:12, 24 January 2012 (PST)
I cant do this you must talk to Nic our wiki founder, i cant change the main code of the wiki sorry.--Doneve 12:14, 24 January 2012 (PST)
I know that those content was in the past available from the battletech site but the link doesn't exist anymore. Perhaps someone else have an idea. Neuling 12:20, 24 January 2012 (PST)

Updating Composition section[edit]

Tnx again for your support of the updating the composition section of the induvidual commands. Futhermore I have another Question. What do you think about it to include for the conventional infantry articles the weapons stats with picture and for the planets to include for the historical part the battles for the controll of it. Remember over 15 battles were fought alone for the possesion of Hesperus II as an example. Neuling 12:20, 24 January 2012 (PST)

At first i move your FWLM example page to the right place, good work, as second, give me a example page of your question, and stard a discussion, but a good idea.--Doneve 12:29, 24 January 2012 (PST)
Take alook at the Hesperus II site for the battle issue, then you have an impression what I mean. Neuling 13:40, 24 January 2012 (PST)
I have a look on it, but i miss a example page what you do on this ;).--Doneve 15:00, 24 January 2012 (PST)
I get what you mean about the battles being listed on the planet articles Neuling, I hve long thouht we should do this. The infantry units however I do not know what you mean? --Dmon 14:53, 26 January 2012 (PST)

Composition and Example[edit]

Hello Doneve, I had a question: In the Field Manual Draconis Combine (FMDC) p.14 2nd column is mentioned that the common mech command is 60 percent upgraded with advanced technology. Can I post it to all DCMS forces from FMDC when not other information is available. I wrote my own example Robinson. Please tell me what do you think. Neuling 12:21, 26 January 2012 (PST)

I think it's critical to post this to all DCMS forces, a lot changed their equipment after the years and during the Jihad some commands where destroyed, dibanded etc. but i think you can leave a note in the various DCMS articles, when you don't found any info in the unit articles or in Field Manual: Draconis Combine and other sources, i hope this helps.--Doneve 12:36, 26 January 2012 (PST)
About Robinson - What is your impression? Neuling 13:13, 26 January 2012 (PST)
Looks good to me, but i don't speak perfect english, i found some grammar and spelling failurs, i think you talk to Revanche or Frabby, their take a look on this.--Doneve 13:26, 26 January 2012 (PST)

Assistance Appreciated Award[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I noticed that you've been tidying up odd mistakes in the unit articles I've been writing or updating, and I'd like to give you an Assistance Appreciated Award. I run my work through spellcheckers and the like, but it often takes me two or three read-throughs to notice a problem, and fresh eyes are a big help on keeping the quality of the articles up. So, please have one of these on me:

Hot Spots + Contracts[edit]

Hello Doneve, I have a project for the neart future in mind but need help to bring it in shape. The sourcebook Hot Spots Games Master + Player Volumes contains alot of valuable information but I have no idea how I can bring it on the planet page. What do you think about that? Neuling 13:07, 27 January 2012 (PST)

In the two books, are some content of planet descriptions, you can added to the planet pages, i hope this helps.--Doneve 17:17, 27 January 2012 (PST)

HD maps[edit]

Hello Doneve, I can provide maps with a higher resolution but before I make the work I ask if you are agree with the decision or if you have concerns about it. Tnx Neuling 16:32, 27 January 2012 (PST)

Let's work.--Doneve 16:45, 27 January 2012 (PST)
But i have another question, you uploaded some pics from TRO: Prototypes, can you teach me how i cropped out the images correct, and what i must do, iam a liitle bit under skilled to do this thanks.--Doneve 16:45, 27 January 2012 (PST)
I will make it short and understandable. Lets start first I use adobe acrobat professionell in combination with enfocus pitstop (that is an addin for acrobat with vast editorial funtions). I open the document zoom the picture to 100 percent or higher. After that I use enfocus to select the vector objects to remove the background. When that is done I chose Werkzeuge|Tools => Auswahl zoomen => Schnappschuss werkzeug|snap shot tool. Then you have the capability to select an area, left mouse, draw the area ,even over the view border. The entire area is in the clipboard as an picture. I use ulead to correct some minor errors and loaded it up to sarna.net I hope this short tutorial was helpfull.Neuling 17:00, 27 January 2012 (PST)
Great thanks so much, but one question what is Ulead, a seperate programm or add on??--Doneve 17:06, 27 January 2012 (PST)
Ulead Photoimpact is a good programm to edit pictures and have the batch funtion => automated process like 50 pictures should get smaller or the brightness should be increased. Another question to you have you read my project above about the content of the Hot Spots contracts and game master book? Neuling 17:12, 27 January 2012 (PST)
I doesn't get it? Where the Wolverines the allies of the Word of Blake during the Jihad or who else? Tnx for your awnser. Neuling 17:15, 27 January 2012 (PST)

Table modification[edit]

Hello Doneve, please take alook at the sandbox and tell me what you think about the modification of the table. I think for my self the new structure make it smoother to read. Neuling 11:29, 29 January 2012 (PST)

Great i have a look on it, really good work, i want to adopt this example, but please start a disscusion on the Manufacturing Center Talk page, i hope the other guys on sarna like this new format, i like it very much.--Doneve 11:36, 29 January 2012 (PST)
Okay, I will start a discussion. Another question to you. Please take a look at the 2nd Benjamin Regulars and the 17th Benjamin Regulars and give me your impression about the formating of the composition section. I had a huge goal to update all military command to the stand of 3079 and for the mercaneries I include the employer of the era (examples The Dioscuri and Miller's Marauders). Tnx again Neuling 11:45, 29 January 2012 (PST)
Ok, take a look on the Dioscuri page, i change a little bit the format.--Doneve 11:50, 29 January 2012 (PST)
Tnx for the little rework and your overall impression about the 3067 sections? Neuling 11:53, 29 January 2012 (PST)

Maps[edit]

Doneve, please take alook at the maps CSJ and CNC OZ 3052.png+ FWL 3079.jpgand give me your critical view if it enough or should those picture are better done.Neuling 14:14, 29 January 2012 (PST)

Regional Structure LCAF[edit]

Hello Doneve, please take alook and give me your impression. When the current format is okay I will include the structure of the remaining eras like 3050/3054/3062/3067 for better understanding. Neuling 10:49, 30 January 2012 (PST)

Looks good to me, but i miss some links on the page.--Doneve 10:50, 30 January 2012 (PST)
I will include links later. And give me a hand because I had no clue where the article link is best placed?Neuling 10:54, 30 January 2012 (PST)
Hm this is a good question, i don't know at the moment, i talk to you when i have a idea, talk to CW or Revanche, what the guys think.--Doneve 10:57, 30 January 2012 (PST)

Shadowrun and similar[edit]

So, I assume you put up the article for deletion because you want to change all the other articles that link to it with links to Wikipedia? Is there a policy for that, because that's not the only one of its kind (most don't even go to an external reference page, they just redlink). --Dirk Bastion 23:29, 30 January 2012 (PST)

Explanation[edit]

That is easy to explain. The rank insignia which I uploaded for my article are those are from 3025 and take alook at the insignas of field manual federated suns p. 99 or handbook house davion p.144 they are different. My article is about the rank structur of the AFFS in 3025. Neuling 12:12, 31 January 2012 (PST)

You have the same images also in the link that i provided you on your talk page.--Doneve 12:14, 31 January 2012 (PST)
When I compare the other ranks to I see clear differents. The ranks changed over the time. Neuling 12:22, 31 January 2012 (PST)
Yes the ranks changed, but Mbear create all various ranks, you can see the references on the aprobiated pages, there is no need to uploade new images, i think you set up a talk to Mbear, and he gives you the same response.--Doneve 12:30, 31 January 2012 (PST)
I had finished my article. I will ask Mbear if he could provide the same ranks in better quality (not that from 3062). And I will also create a rank table for the ranks of 3062 because some of the ranks were created as an result of the Federated Commonwealth and the responsibility in some cases changed to.Neuling 12:46, 31 January 2012 (PST)
Yes talk to Mbear.--Doneve 12:48, 31 January 2012 (PST)
What are you thinking so fare about the article (regardless of the pictures)? Neuling 12:49, 31 January 2012 (PST)
I don't know i think a lot merged with the existing rank pages from Mbear, but this is my opinion.--Doneve 12:56, 31 January 2012 (PST)

Change of formating?[edit]

Hello Doneve, why have you changed my formating of the 8th Dieron Regulars? I regard the format which I chosed better to read. The format that you had select is for me a backstep.Neuling 08:57, 2 February 2012 (PST)

I actually like Doneves format better. It looks a little cleaner in my opinion. --Dmon 09:05, 2 February 2012 (PST)
I agree with Dmon, i looks cleaner and is better to read, is my opinion, take a look on BM's SLDF Brigade pages.--Doneve 09:11, 2 February 2012 (PST)
I have started a discussion about it on the Project Military Commands page --Dmon 09:24, 2 February 2012 (PST)

Image request[edit]

Morning, Doneve: could you update the The Wars of Reaving image for me? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 07:40, 3 February 2012 (PST)

Compromise[edit]

I thought about our issue an I think I find a good compromise. Here an example of the new format:

20th Arcturan Guards RCT (1 Regiment/Regular/Reliable)

Note: Clantechnology: 5 percent | Advanced IS technology: 60 percent | Omnis: 10 percent

20th Arcturan Guards Aerospace Brigade (2 Wings/Regular/Reliable)

Note: Advanced IS technology: 75 percent | Omnis: 10 percent

20th Arcturan Guards Armor Brigade (2 Regiments/Veteran/Reliable)

  • CO: Colonel Nurudeen Amzel

Note: Advanced IS technology: 55 percent

20th Arcturan Guards Infantry Brigade (5 Regiments/Regular/Reliable)

when we use (
) then we need not -Note. WHat do you think?Neuling 08:55, 3 February 2012 (PST)

I set up a talk to Revanche our policy writer and wait for his response, then i know more, and give you a response.--Doneve 08:59, 3 February 2012 (PST)

Apology[edit]

Hello Doneve, I talked to you to harsh in the last comments in the BattleTechWiki talk:Project Military Commands‎. I wrote to Revanche. I will wait what he think about that. About the composition section of the units article. Can you agree when I doesn't change you work and I add only my content with my compromise format at the subsection of 3067? Neuling 09:53, 3 February 2012 (PST)

No problem.--Doneve 10:16, 3 February 2012 (PST)

Officer[edit]

Hello Doneve, take a look at page 52 House Steiner (The Lyran Commonwealth) first column. In the text is written that the overall commander was first Colonel Raymond Hempsted (former CO of the Stealths) and later Marcus Steiner. Both had authority over the Lyran Regulars. Neuling 09:33, 4 February 2012 (PST)

Ah ok thanks, i see it.--Doneve 09:55, 4 February 2012 (PST)

Operation Götterdämmerung[edit]

Hello Doneve, please take a look at Operation: Götterdämmerung and give me a review about the quality. I used a spell checker and I hope that fewer errors are include. When you agree with the format I will rework the other articles the same way to increase the quality of my articles. I had a question: During Anton's Marik Revolt he used 8 commands (1st - 8th Ducal Guard) how can I create an article about them. I know the exact composition, where they fought, the date of formation, the quality/loyalty rating but not the CO's. I had in mind to write first a short review for the entire brigade and then to include the details in the commands article itself. Neuling 10:30, 4 February 2012 (PST)

At first it looks at the moment good to me, but i think we don't need the [The Invasion had 3 parts] section, all listed units are found on the Wave 1 ect. sections. As second we had a Ducal Guard page later renamed to Oriente Ducal Guard and attached to the Fusiliers of Oriente, i think you create at first a Ducal Guard Brigade page for the overview and later regimental pages.--Doneve 10:40, 4 February 2012 (PST)

Typo[edit]

Hello Doneve, I wrote the planet Kornephoros correct.

Reference
  • NAIS The Fourth Succession War Military Atlas Volume 1 p. 45 + 61 (first column)
  • NAIS The Fourth Succession War Military Atlas Volume 2 p. 71
In the NAIS Atlases reference is a typo and the planet is misspellt, i hope this helps.--Doneve 10:40, 4 February 2012 (PST)

Opinions[edit]

Hello Doneve, please take a look at User:Neuling/Lyran Regional Militias and tell me your impression. Tnx Neuling 06:51, 5 February 2012 (PST)

Looks good to me, i added some links and we don't bold the militia units.--Doneve 07:17, 5 February 2012 (PST)

Question[edit]

Hello Doneve, I have found an interesting formating for the mech designs (No-Dachi). In my opinion it looks better as the common format. I ask you as an admin if we could use it througth the entire web side as new standard? Neuling 12:16, 5 February 2012 (PST)

I must disagree, the Project BattleMech policy is writen by Scaletail, i see no chance to change this, talk to Scaletail what he think about, oh i forgot read the Project BattleMech page we don't bold variant.--Doneve 12:42, 5 February 2012 (PST)
I will ask Scaletail and the formating wasn't done by me. You can verify that over the history of the site. Neuling 12:44, 5 February 2012 (PST)

Ailette typo in picture file[edit]

Hi Doneve, can you do me a favor? I messed up on the spelling of a exskeleton picture for the Ailette. I stupidly named it File:Ailetto.jpg. Can you rename it to Ailette please? -- Wrangler 14:33, 5 February 2012 (PST)

2596[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I noticed we're both adding 2596 owner citations to Inner Sphere planets based on the maps on p. 158-159 of Historical: Reunification War. Would you be happy to work around clockwise from the Rim Worlds Republic through the Lyran Commonwealth and Draconis Combine, while I work anti-clockwise from the Free Worlds League through the Capellan Confederation and the Federated Suns? My thinking is that way, we don't end up spending time checking the same worlds Smiley.gif I've already done half or two thirds of the Terran Hegemony worlds, plus all the Outworlds Alliance worlds and almost all of the Magistracy of Canopus worlds. BrokenMnemonic 05:49, 7 February 2012 (PST)

Okidoki, the deal is perfect, Wink.gif, then we have done the Reunification Map owner history.--Doneve 06:10, 7 February 2012 (PST)
Well... we won't quite have done it. There are also smaller maps at various dates dotted throughout Historical: Reunification War that show areas as at the deployment of troops. The one on page 94 shows where the SLDF and MAF units were in 2577 - so I've updated all the worlds shown on that map. I've also done the same for the map on page 105(?) that shows where the SLDF and OAM units were. There's a map for the SLDF and the Rim Worlds military as well, and another for the SLDF and the Taurian Defense Force, but as I haven't been through those chapters yet, I've not updated the worlds. There aren't a huge number of differences between the 2571 Handbook maps, the various Reunification War campaign maps and the 2596 map... but there are some. Just enough to catch me out, in fact! BrokenMnemonic 06:24, 7 February 2012 (PST)
Good catch, i finish at first the 2596 map, where we talk on the top, then we can go to the next step, i stay on hospital and have much time, when iam done with the clockwise planets i talk to you.--Doneve 06:33, 7 February 2012 (PST)
I didn't catch the part about you being in hospital when I first read this - I hope you're making a swift recovery from whatever ails you? BrokenMnemonic 10:00, 13 February 2012 (PST)

alternative[edit]

Hello Doneve, I have though about the formating of the variants at Mech pages. That is the result of my work User:Neuling/Variant Formatting‎. I think with the new structure it is easer to read and the common user can jump to the variant directly. WHat do you think? Neuling 11:43, 7 February 2012 (PST)

Hy Neuling talk to Scaletail or Revanche, i don't want to involve in this critical change of the 'Mech pages, sorry.--Doneve 11:46, 7 February 2012 (PST)

awnser[edit]

Hello Doneve, I learned from my mistakes and ask before I start projects which could be turn into a nightmare for me. I ask you and you tell me that you won't be involved. You tell me, to ask Revanche and that have I done. I will wait. You and I have different estetical opinions. That is good but I will always argue when I'm convinced that thinks can be better. Neuling 15:25, 7 February 2012 (PST)

No comment, do what you do.--Doneve 15:37, 7 February 2012 (PST)

request[edit]

Hello Doneve, I know we had in the past great difference how to incoporate information at sarna.net. Over the last several weeks I try to change my way to work. I discover large gaps for the component sections and entire manufcaturing thematic to. I ask the lead developer a question about the manufacturing of components on a planet where the machines are built but at the moment I get no answer. My suggestion is every part of a machine is local produced until no other information's is available. Furthermore to know the planet (state), the manufacturer and the machine which use the technology is interesting for many users. I offer is that I will include all available information over the next several months step by step to build a database. Can we cooperate? Neuling 05:52, 11 February 2012 (PST)

Yeah we can cooperate, i do this many month before you jump on the boat, this by the Fusion Engines with several brands, and Jump Jets and Communications System, i fix little thinks you have added, then we have on standard.--Doneve 06:54, 11 February 2012 (PST)
I have an other idea how we can split the work.First I will put one the corresponding component sites the entries for all desings for example Technical Readout: 3050. Then you can pick up the information and put it on the manufacturing site. I hope my explanation was understandable.Neuling 11:03, 11 February 2012 (PST)
Can you give me a example page, i think this helps, thanks--Doneve 11:05, 11 February 2012 (PST)

That is my compromise to you. I see the problem by your format we have no information for the specific model. Another idea could be that we use for the different brands the format because we have more information about the manufacturer like the mydron series for example. Neuling

Ok but at this time please don't use this format on the Fusion Engine, Communications System and Jump Jets pages, i don't want to destroy the format at this time, you can use it for the other components, i think this is a good compromise, i will change or fix the table format in the next weeks, and please take a look on the Jump Jet's brand pages there looks really good.--Doneve 11:46, 11 February 2012 (PST)
I accept your offer and will put information about Fusion Engine, Communications System and Jump Jets on a sub page of my user page. Furthermore we can use both systems side by side. progress[edit]

Hello Doneve, take a look at User:Neuling/Component Updates‎ and you can see all components from tro 3050 original (IS Mechs). Yeah, great work, when i use your page and put it to the various component pages i delete the row on your updates pages.--Doneve 10:11, 12 February 2012 (PST)

Outstanding Member of the Year Award[edit]

Dude, you're a legend! From blocked to the site's second highest award in just over two years is phenomenal and quick well shows the success story for someone who doesn't even speak the site's primary language naturally. And you've got 4.8x the 2nd most active user's count! I don't think anyone would argue that they're 99% (or higher) quality edits. You're my hero. Congratulations and thanks.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:48, 12 February 2012 (PST)

Maps[edit]

Hello Doneve, I hope you could use some of my informations from the components so fare. I had an idea and created a modified map. Kagoshima-Prefecture-3054.png. Please tell me what you are thinking about it? Neuling 09:25, 13 February 2012 (PST)

The best way is you talk to BrokenMnemonic our Planet Cartographer.--Doneve 09:36, 13 February 2012 (PST)

Lyran Commonwealth: 2341 map[edit]

Hy Doneve,

Øystein has just confirmed that the map of the Lyran Commonwealth in 2341 in Handbook: House Steiner has an error on it, after I questioned him regarding the Terran Hegemony/Free Worlds League border. That means you and I may need to change some dates in the planet articles, or add a note to a fair number of planet entries, unless a new map comes out sometime. BrokenMnemonic 06:27, 14 February 2012 (PST)

Ok, more work to do, but at first i finish the Lyran Commonwealth/Draconis Combine owner history from the Historica: Reunification War 2596 Map, and i think we leave a note section to the wrong worlds.--Doneve 07:08, 14 February 2012 (PST)

More Components[edit]

I have complete the components for the clan machines from tro 3085 User:Neuling/TRO 3085 - Components when you need something special let me know. Neuling 11:02, 14 February 2012 (PST)

Map project[edit]

I think the map project is for the near future because without cooperation its an extraordinary task for one person. Neuling 13:48, 14 February 2012 (PST)

I know but, i update at first all manufacturing centers by the new table format and make some cleanups, as second concentrate you on one huge project step by step, i saw the other projects where you starded of the last month and last year, but not one project is finished etc. this is not critism of your work here, but you want to much in short time, and this is the problem why you don't match our wiki standard, to many caps on older pages, to many typos etc., i hope you see this as a positive critical talk.--Doneve 13:56, 14 February 2012 (PST)
I think I had done a good job with Operation Götterdämmerung so fare. Operation revival is also near to the end. I know that I started to many things at the same time but that is over I hope. A few projects can be updated on small scale like the composition of the commands. Neuling 14:18, 14 February 2012 (PST)

Recent Changes slowdown[edit]

Hey Doneve, you had mentioned before that Recent Changes was slower with the recent MediaWiki upgrade. I wasn't able to see this, but Revanche found that it happened when he was running IE7 or on a mobile browser. In that case, I see the problem as well. It looks like it's caused by enabling "Use enhanced Recent Changes" in your Preferences. If you're using an older browser, and you turn that option off, it should work a bit better for you. Nicjansma 14:57, 16 February 2012 (PST)

Hy Nic, the problem is fixed, i used the newst version of the FireFox browser and had no trouble in last time, thanks for your response.--Doneve 15:12, 16 February 2012 (PST)

Components and Variants[edit]

Hello Doneve, I see a problem by the format of the existing component page because the components are mentioned in usage by a special machine not the specific variant. The King Crab KGC-0000 carries 2 AC/20 as main weapons and the KGC-010 variant has 2 LB-x 10 AC as main weapon. I will add the specific variants when I finished my upload off all components from the Technical Readouts.Neuling 07:49, 17 February 2012 (PST)

Ok, no problem.--Doneve 07:51, 17 February 2012 (PST)

Explanation[edit]

Hello Doneve, you are right about the information but I was talking about a specific region not singular manufacturers. When you take for example the Federation of Skye which has many industries and other regions with only a few factories. I will show with the maps only an overview about the manufacturers and the main products like mechs, fighter, vehicles drop ships and so on. Like the maps in the objective series and additional the links to the manufacturers and their main products.Neuling 14:37, 17 February 2012 (PST)

Ok lett me see a example!--Doneve 14:42, 17 February 2012 (PST)

Questions[edit]

Hello Doneve, I talked to several user and you where most times the first how anwsers on such a question. When you read a question which a posted to other users like you, you must not response and then I will only talk to the specific user. Neuling 22:52, 17 February 2012 (PST)

Deletion?[edit]

Hello Doneve, why have you delete my message on the userpage of BrokenMnemonic‎? Neuling 12:03, 18 February 2012 (PST)

I don't deleted your message, i talk at the same time and had a talk conflict, i don't removed your talk.--Doneve 12:05, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Okay, I see it was an accident. I could save my message without the warning that the post was a conflict to yours. That is strange. I will repost my message. Neuling 12:09, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Yeah, guys: 'conflicts' can be tricky. Usually, the person seeing the message must scroll to the bottom of the screen, cut & paste their original entry and then paste it in the edit field in the top of the page. (Hard to do when on a mobile...trust me.)--Revanche (talk|contribs) 12:49, 19 February 2012 (PST)
Thanks, Lol, fat fingers on the mobile, greetings.--Doneve 12:53, 19 February 2012 (PST)

Genoa[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I'm pottering through some of the old sourcebook adding early history details on worlds and I hit a contradiction with the world of Genoa that I can't check for myself because I'm at work. Frustratingly, while I've got access to most of the sourcebooks here, my electronic copy of the Dark Age: Republic Worlds (3130) is only available at home until CGL put the download back up on their website. Could I ask a favour? Could you possibly check your copy and tell me if the statement here on the planet article for Genoa is accurate regarding the founding date? According to the article here, Genoa was founded in 2300 by colonists from Italy - which disagrees with the fact that Genoa is shown on the Free Worlds League founding map of 2271 as being a settled system, as well as with references in House Liao (The Capellan Confederation) that Cynthiana was trading actively with Zurich, Genoa and Zion by 2202. I know, I could just wait until I get home and look it up, but... BrokenMnemonic 00:29, 20 February 2012 (PST)

Ok, in Dark Age: Republic Worlds (3130), p. 101 is mentiont in [2300] the planet is settelt and in 2315 the planet became a member of the Liao Protectorate, i hope this helps.--Doneve 02:01, 20 February 2012 (PST)
That does help, thank you - I've got to go and ask another question on the Ask The Writers forum now. They're going to be sick of me before long at the rate I'm asking questions! BrokenMnemonic 02:13, 20 February 2012 (PST)

Clean Up[edit]

Hello Doneve, tell me the reason why you have put the clean up at the command van page. The spell checker says the text is okay and there are no more information's available. Should you have additional information please put it to the article. Tnx Neuling 12:19, 21 February 2012 (PST)

The article must cleand up, i miss some links and correct category links, also i added the cleanup template, you dont match the wiki standard.--Doneve 12:30, 21 February 2012 (PST)

Assistance Appreciated Award, 4th ribbon[edit]

Hey, Doneve, catching a newcomer who may need help but doesn't know who to ask is critical to keeping them here. Bedecked as you are in similar awards, I still thought your assistance to Rebs on Elizabeth Hazen deserved recognition:

Assistance Appreciated Award, 4th ribbon

Maps[edit]

Hello Doneve, I will follow your talk and I have a question about the topic how can I upload a better version without creating a duplicate? The map is increased an better to read what you see at the file is only a smaller version of the original picture. The problem for the Hanseatic League is the distances between the planets are to large to make a smaller version of the map.Neuling 11:46, 24 February 2012 (PST)

I know, you must only add a new file name, it's the same way when you uploade a new image, when you uploaded a better version of a duplicate, we added the deletion tag to the poorer version and deleted then.--Doneve 11:50, 24 February 2012 (PST)
Agreed and Tnx. Neuling 11:51, 24 February 2012 (PST)

Planets[edit]

Well... we now have 3,014 registered planets. Think we caught them all yet? Wink.gif BrokenMnemonic 13:23, 24 February 2012 (PST)

Really! Wink.gif, i wait for [Historical: Liberation of Terra, Vol I] and i don't checked the Field Manual: 3085 maps, i hope we become some surprises.--Doneve 13:28, 24 February 2012 (PST)
There's also Handbook: House Kurita, too - based on my work on the other Handbooks, I think we can expect to see 30+ new Star League era Combine worlds appearing on the maps in that, too. And I just realised reading through Handbook: House Liao that they've inadvertantly given me the names of four of the Chesterton Trade Federation worlds Smiley.gif BrokenMnemonic 13:32, 24 February 2012 (PST)
I miss the Collen System from War of Reaving. The Blood Spirit settle two planets (Honor + Haven Wars of Reaving p.233 + 234).Neuling 13:54, 24 February 2012 (PST)
Thanks i take a look on the source and talk then to BM.--Doneve 13:56, 24 February 2012 (PST)
3,014? Are you counting Planets in the same System like the Tanite Worlds and the Planets of Colleen?-Volt 16:03, 28 February 2012 (PST)
No, i have this on my list, but if you want to create this system articles i appriciate this.--Doneve 16:11, 28 February 2012 (PST)
Um, I think I'd best leave article writing to the experts.-Volt 16:22, 28 February 2012 (PST)
Okidoki, i follow at first my Jihad: Final Reckoning map project and finish the Magistracy of Canopus, and the Taurian Concordat, and then take my view on the Wars of Reaving.--Doneve 16:37, 28 February 2012 (PST)

Planets[edit]

Is the way how I upload now the pictures right or not and another question is: is the quality good enougth? Tnx Neuling 14:36, 24 February 2012 (PST)
Yes this is the right way to upload, the quality looks good to me, but talk to BM, he can help you to improve your planet images.--Doneve 14:40, 24 February 2012 (PST)
Doneve, I finish my first batch of maps with their neighbors. I will only know if that the right way because BrokenMnemonic hasn't answer me.Neuling 05:40, 25 February 2012 (PST)
Looks very good to me, good job.--Doneve 05:42, 25 February 2012 (PST)
I will make the upload slowly only 10 to 20 planet in a row to meet the quality standards.Neuling 05:44, 25 February 2012 (PST)

Have you an idea[edit]

Hello Doneve, I think you notice my uploads in the last time. My problem is to get an overview which planet is updated with such a map and which worlds need the update. By over 3,000 planets it will be very confusing for me. Any thoughts about it? Neuling 11:17, 25 February 2012 (PST)

Hm this is very difficult, at first you can update the minor periphery powers, but you must suggest and double check maps, then some powers change their worlds, also don't work from one map, you must check all maps you have on hand if the planet is showed in the timeframe you want to use, the best way is you set up a new talk to BM, he has a method to overlay some maps how to see if the planets of the various maps match the same coordinate, he creates some maps, when you take a look on the BattleTechWiki:Project Planets/Planet Overhaul/Faction Map Gallery gallery, and wait for his response, i hope this helps.--Doneve 11:54, 25 February 2012 (PST)
Can you tell me whether there is an overview with all planets, because I can used it for my own purpose to mark the planet which are updated. I will use sofar the maps from the era of 3067. The Periphery power increased and decreased by their member worlds and under such conditions I will use the map of the reference as a source to create the maps. Neuling 12:15, 25 February 2012 (PST)
Go to the left of the nav bar, to the background bar you found the Planets, this is all.--Doneve 12:19, 25 February 2012 (PST)

Solution for maps[edit]

Hello Doneve, I found a good solution for the planets with various owners. I will upload examples of the territory for the first owner and then the second owner in form of a gallery. I think that is an acceptable way. Furthermore I will use the Planets category to create a personal table for office and to mark all planets which are updated a how have different owners over the time. Possible I can finish the Taurian Concordat and then will concentrate on the smaller periphery powers. Neuling 02:56, 26 February 2012 (PST)

McCormack's Fusiliers[edit]

Hey, Doneve: I've got a research project for you. Would you check up on McCormack's Fusiliers for me? I've seen them twice now. Chronologically, they conducted a raid in 2372 and then were formed in 2377. Shocked.gif If you could confirm these dates, I'd appreciate it. It might need settling with the writers at the BT forums.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 13:36, 27 February 2012 (PST)

Okidoki, i stard my search, and talk then to you.--Doneve 13:39, 27 February 2012 (PST)
I had a look at the Northwind Highlanders scenario pack before going to bed last night (I'm sad that way) and that also says 2377. It also clarifies the mercenary status of the Highlander regiments during those years, which explains why units from Northwind, a Terran Hegemony world in the 2360s, were fighting for the Capellan Confederation. BrokenMnemonic 23:57, 28 February 2012 (PST)

Coloring of map[edit]

Tnx for your message Doneve. I'm against to coloring my maps because it will increase the file size and second the work for hundreds of pictures are to big for my taste. My opinion is to coloring the maps of the states for the different eras it is easier to do. Neuling 10:36, 28 February 2012 (PST)

What to big for you Wink.gif, but i understand you.--Doneve 10:40, 28 February 2012 (PST)

Project Planets Template[edit]

Hy Doneve,

With Neuling getting very enthusiastic about nearest neighbours maps and Rev still being busy, I thought I should try and be useful and update the general project planets template to reflect the outcome of all of the conversations scattered around the various talk pages, particularly after I spent an hour trying to work out which of the various talk pages I remembered various comments from.

I've put a mockup of the template in a sub page here: User:BrokenMnemonic/Planet_Ovehaul_Template. Can you do me a favour and take a look at it please? I'd like to check that it matches your understanding of where we are after all the discussions. If it does, then I'll see if I can it posted somewhere on the Project Planets area for discussion so that we can hopefully get started on upgrading all the planets to the new format. BrokenMnemonic 02:44, 29 February 2012 (PST)

Hy it looks good to me, and i understand all.--Doneve 03:43, 29 February 2012 (PST)

Thank You[edit]

Thank you for directing me to some good sources, that was awesome of you. Anyway, I took my time and read Op Klondike nice and slow like I love to do with good literature of any kind. I'm ready to start rolling on the biographies. Anyway, check out Elizabeth Hazen, I finished it nicely with the info from that book. If there are a lot of red links in there don't worry about them, I plan of doing something for all of them :) Glad to be here and thank you again for the encouragement. Map page number[edit]

Hello Doneve, I can provide only the pagecount within the pdf but no official page number. I will do the same for the other maps from the remaining 4 house books. When you are interested I can provide you with the index of planets from the 5 housebooks. Neuling 04:38, 8 March 2012 (PST) 150px

Thanks, but i don't need the indexes, all coordinates are wrong in the old Housebooks.--Doneve 08:39, 8 March 2012 (PST)
I know that, I provide the Kurita index to you because of ownership o the planets. Neuling 10:13, 8 March 2012 (PST)

Dunklewälderdunklerflüssenschattenwelt[edit]

I've not had a chance to get hold of a copy yet, but apparently maps in Historical: Liberation of Terra Volume 1 show a world named "Dunklewälderdunklerflüssenschattenwelt". Can you imagine the fun we're going to have typing that into nearby system lists? I'm wondering if Øystein included it as a joke at Bad_Syntax's expense! BrokenMnemonic 00:22, 9 March 2012 (PST)

I was going to ask about the misspelling in the 2nd part. It looks like I still remember something from my college German classes. Do you think the developers are aware of the misspelling?--S.gage 09:54, 9 March 2012 (PST)
I don't know, but i thing a talk to the line developers on the CBT Form clear this, my other theory is, they had a party, and found a german fantasy magazin, and found the correct name on the magazin cover but miss read the name because they were too sloshed Smiley.gif.--Doneve 10:46, 9 March 2012 (PST)

Information[edit]

Hello Doneve, I discover recently a hugh source of high quality material. I had gather most of it at the know forum and you can tell me if the material is good enougth or what can be improved. I will update the forum over the weekend with additional material. :) Enjoy it. I forget all records sheet 1 - 6 and rs aerotech 2 are also available. Neuling 01:22, 9 March 2012 (PST)

Hy, i download at this time your folder, great stuff in high quality, thanks a lot :).--Doneve 02:37, 9 March 2012 (PST)
I'll take it for granted that this "source" is of course totally legal and that everyone gets paid their due in the process. Because Sarna doesn't engage in bootlegging activity. Because if it did, BTW might get killed through a C&D order and criminal charges might be flying around and hit people. Or Nic might simply decide it's not worth that risk, and take it down. (See also the below issue.) Frabby 01:52, 12 March 2012 (PDT)

Warning[edit]

Doneve...fair warning, because you're a highly valued and respected (and I'd say primary) contributor, but Sarna BTW will not be a conduit for the activity you engaged in most recently. I'd prefer not to elaborate, so that the project is not put at further risk. If you have any questions to about what I'm referring, please email me. Just cease from doing that again on BTW.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 10:15, 10 March 2012 (PST)

Hy Revanche, i must say sorry sorry, a big mistake by myself, i accept the warning, and don't do so stupid things in the futer, iam a idiot.--Doneve 10:18, 10 March 2012 (PST)
Thank you for taking your lumps maturely.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 10:24, 10 March 2012 (PST)

Indeed. You are lucky that Rev caught it first. My reaction might have been stronger, and I am very unhappy. But we'll leave it at that now. Frabby 01:48, 12 March 2012 (PDT)

Mission Members[edit]

Hey, Doneve: I've responded on my talk page to your last post.
On a related note, I'm being very methodical in this next UBP mission. Right now, I'm putting people I can count on in the places I think that can demonstrate my tested process the best. For CW101, I want to make him a research writer, since that is where his strengths are. For me, it's fact checking. But, because he's new and we need to get this right, I'm going to switch out with him for a few sections (me doing some writing, him doing some checking). Your strength is in knowing the Manual of Style and how a complete article should look (not only the the UBP additions, but the whole thing). That's why I added you to copy editor, the final check process. If, after a few sections go well, I intend to add you and one other person to the process, both as fact checkers, but I'm not ready for those variables just yet. So, for the time being, if you don't mind, I'd like you to go back to copy editing and stand ready to jump in on the first section, when an article is ready for your review.
I was thinking this would also allow you to ease in the additional load from what you're already doing with Planets. Sound good?--Revanche (talk|contribs) 16:48, 12 March 2012 (PDT)

No problem, the best way is, i concentrate me on this what i can really good, and don't involve in to many things, thanks.--Doneve 16:55, 12 March 2012 (PDT)
Can you take a look at this 'comment' I left on CW101's talk page? That might help explain what I'd like you to do on the Luthien mission as copy-editor. Of course, we don't have the individual assignment pages built ("Combatants", "Traitor's Kiss", "Thresher Edward", etc.) for that one, but if you could copyedit the individual assignments (and the relevant articles), you could then mark them as 'complete' and we can close out the Luthien mission.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 08:27, 13 March 2012 (PDT)
Okidoki, can you give an example on the Damnation [Copyeditor] section, then i follow this way, i make minor copyedits and added the minor characters category to the Kedika Moors article.--Doneve 08:47, 13 March 2012 (PDT)
Looks like you don't need an example. As you have already done, when you're done editing the page, add it to your graph. When you've added all the articles listed in the 2nd Fact Checker's section to your section, then I, as Project lead will review and declare the mission 'complete'! Smiley.gif --Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:06, 13 March 2012 (PDT)
Oh, and if you could add in 'completed' to each of the assignment sections for Fact Checker and Copy-Editor, that'd be super. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:10, 13 March 2012 (PDT)
Cool. Looks like you're done with "Damnation". Please review the relevant articles for the rest of the "Luthien" mission and mark them as complete (when you're done with them). It's not as easy to track as it will be for the "New Avalon" mission, but I think for the most part we've done as much as can be expected for that mission.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:56, 13 March 2012 (PDT)
Ok, i review the other articles, and i think we can finish the project today or tomorrow.--Doneve 10:05, 13 March 2012 (PDT)

Colossus Dropship[edit]

Hello Doneve, can you help me I found only Clyde Spaceyards over Firgrove (ref tro 3075 p.198 second column + objectives federated suns p.27) as the manufacturer of the Colossus dropship-class. I find no information that Mitchell Vihicles have restart their production line. Tnx Neuling 14:56, 14 March 2012 (PDT)

Hy Neuling you found the info in Technical Readout: 3026 Revised, p. 122, "Colossus Profile" i hope this helps.--Doneve 15:02, 14 March 2012 (PDT)
Tnx for your quick response. I found only that the company was destroyed during the Amaris War and the production line was not rebuild? Neuling 15:08, 14 March 2012 (PDT)

Congrats[edit]

You passed my test of your skills as a UBP Editor. I purposefully left the title of Hiroshima Peace Preserve unbolded, to see if you'd catch it. Because you're always stalking me, I was certain I'd have an edit conflict when I uploaded the pic of the peninsula, but that was a good thing. Because of my faith in your editing skills, I award you the seldom-presented Surreal Award:

UBP assignment: "Unwelcome Guests"[edit]

Hey, Doneve: not ready for you just yet, but keeping you on the discussion of the new assignment here. This will be CW's first time out, so don't be as hard on him as you are on me.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 14:10, 20 March 2012 (PDT)

Need some images uploaded for new articles[edit]

Hey Doneve! Hope all is well. I wrote a few new articles this weekend that could use some images Cheesy.gif . (you told me to ask if I needed one and I knew at that time these two would be the ones, whenever I got around to writing them up) For Legend of Turkina there is this picture of a rabidly insane Elizabeth Hazen hacking up rebels with a katana on the bottom of page 11 of the Jade Falcon Sourcebook. It's not the best drawing ever, but hey... I think it should work pretty good to provide proper atmosphere for the article. The second one is DeChavilier Massacre. At the bottom of page 20 in Operation Klondike there is a picture of an Atlas standing in flaming oil and being blown to pieces from all sides. Aaron DeChavilier pilots it, so it is absolutely perfect. If it needs to be inserted into the top of the Battle Box, that would be cool, or maybe just below the Battle Box on the right side or wherever. Either way you want to do it would be fine with me. --Rebs 13:39, 7 April 2012 (PDT)

Just wanted to say thanks again. I know where to go when I need images fast! --Rebs 23:32, 11 April 2012 (PDT)

Liezen[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I noticed that you've just altered the owner history of Liezen to show it was controlled by Clan Hell's Horses from June, rather than July. Where a source says that a world was invaded in a particular month or a range of weeks, I normally set the owner history for the following month, because I don't know exactly when the invaders gained control of the planet within that invasion window, but I can be certain that from the following month it was in their hands. So, when the Hell's Horses invaded between the 7th and 28th of June, it doesn't seem right to say they controlled it from June, because they may have captured it as early as the 7th or as late as the 28th - but we do know that they definitely controlled it from the 1st of July onwards. That's my reasoning for using July as the date... what do you think? BrokenMnemonic 06:22, 11 April 2012 (PDT)

Ah ok, i read always your postet content and change the month, i double check this when iam back from work, i have at this time the sourcebook not not hand.--Doneve 06:27, 11 April 2012 (PDT)

Late response[edit]

Sorry...busy time of the year here. Here's my response.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:57, 23 April 2012 (PDT)

No problem, i read your response on the UBP talk page.--Doneve 10:07, 23 April 2012 (PDT)

Narimasa Asano[edit]

Doneve - So I'm working on Narimasa Asano. Can you help me out with his pics from the Era Report: 3062 and the Luthien (scenario pack)? Thanks! ClanWolverine101 18:05, 26 April 2012 (PDT)

Yep, i uplode the pics. and give you the links on your talk page, but i can do this when I back from work.--Doneve 18:08, 26 April 2012 (PDT)
Thanks! ClanWolverine101 20:57, 26 April 2012 (PDT)

Bios[edit]

When pull up the page in the morning, it says there are only 138 characters in the Clan Characters category, and lots of them are missing. Then I sign in and it's 168 characters, and all the missing bios are there. How long is the lag between when the bios get finished and when they are listed with the general population? Anything I can do to help? --Rebs 09:16, 2 May 2012 (PDT)

When you finish a page with categories, the page is directly linked to the category, you can use your refresh button, (F5 - Fire Fox browser), i think this was a little server problem when you are not logged in.--Doneve 09:38, 2 May 2012 (PDT)
I did one better, I completely cleared cache. When I was logged in, it said "168 pages in this category, out of 168 total". I'm logged out now after clearing cache, it says this: "The following 138 pages are in this category, out of 138 total". Refreshing did not help either. I was just wondering if there were server issues too, that's all. Didn't know if you knew about it.
That was me. Logged in and it's back to 168. Just reporting a weird discrepancy. --Rebs 09:57, 2 May 2012 (PDT)
Hmm, i set up a talk to [Nic], our sarna founder, he can help to clear the problem.--Doneve 10:03, 2 May 2012 (PDT)
Sorry to barge in, but part of that may be due to the way the system caches now. If you look at the wanted pages you'll see that some of them have black strikeouts through them. That's because there was a performance issue and now they're generated weekly. Same thing might apply to category links, but I'm not 100% sure of that.--Mbear(talk) 11:23, 4 May 2012 (PDT)
Not sure what it is, but I get different numbers for the amount of pages in most of the categories. It could be, since the missing pages appear to be newer ones. --Rebs 12:48, 4 May 2012 (PDT)

Image[edit]

Hey Doneve! Could you upload Raven Clearwater's pic for me? I just finished her bio. The image is on the bottom left of page 185 in The Wars of Reaving. --Rebs 23:27, 7 May 2012 (PDT)

Done :).--Doneve 04:24, 8 May 2012 (PDT)
Thank you! All known leadership of Clan Coyote will be completed very soon. :) Then some historical writing to help shape the main Coyote page up. If I see an image that would help, I'll let you know. --Rebs 20:08, 8 May 2012 (PDT)
Hey Doneve! Hope all is well on your end of the world. I was thinking about another image. On page 107 of Invading Clans, there's a drawing of Liam Ismiril and Sandra Rosse with cool yin-yang duality motif going on. Think it would be cool to upload that to both of their pages? I have a good idea of how to arrange the images after they are uploaded, probably further down the article, since it is both of them in it and not just one. --Rebs 08:33, 15 May 2012 (PDT)
Hy Rebs, yep always is fine by me, her is the image link File:Liam Ismiril and Sandra Rosse.jpg, have fun.--Doneve 08:39, 15 May 2012 (PDT)
Awesome, thank you for the upload! Anyway, I double checked Liam Ismiril and it looks like I'll have to write his page since it's only a few lines right now. Should not be hard, there's only one major detail about him anyway. --Rebs 08:56, 15 May 2012 (PDT)

Achernar BattleMechs[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I hope you're keeping well?

I just updated the Achernar BattleMechs page and the entry for the planet Achernar to reflect the West Fabrication Facility, which wasn't in Objective Raids or any of the other pre-Jihad books; from the entry in Jihad Hot Spots: Terra and Technical Readout: 3058, the West Fabrication Facility was an Achernar BattleMech plant, actually located on the planet Achernar (unlike every other Achernar BattleMechs plant), which originally produced IndustrialMechs. The Word of Blake captured Achernar and then built up the factory to let them produce the Osprey 'Mech, but the factory was then destroyed in 3077. The TRO entry isn't clear on which standard of Osprey was made, but from what I can see, there was one variant of the Osprey manufactured by Hollis, the original SLDF supplier, and then the Word upgraded the Skobel plant on Earth and the Achernar plant. The Capellans in turn then upgraded their surviving Hollis plant line on Corey to make their own variant of the Osprey, which was actually identical to one of the Word variants - just to make it more complicated, the Word produced not the SLDF variant, but a new variant, and then a new-new variant, so you have the OSP-15 SLDF model, the OSP-15E CCAF model, the OSP-25 WOB new model and the OSP-26 WOB new-new model. I've tried pulling together the relevant bits from both books and Jihad: Final Reckoning to make the Achernar and Achernar BattleMechs entries make sense, but I've not worked in any significant way on the industries pages before. As you're the expert, could you take a look and let me know if the format is right, and if you can see any glaring problems in my reasoning behind the two amendments I've made? BrokenMnemonic 06:47, 21 May 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, all is fine, thanks. I see no formating or other problems, looks good to me, you added all significant content you can found at this time, i added a link and a Manufacturing Center section to Achernar planet page, i think we need a West Fabrication Facility page, but i don't now if we found enough material for it.--Doneve 07:04, 21 May 2012 (PDT)
Great, thank you. I'm not sure there's enough material for an article on the Facility, but it's a bit of an odd one because it seems to have been too insignificant to mention before the Jihad, and gone before the new Field Report or Objectives series could mention it. BrokenMnemonic 10:29, 21 May 2012 (PDT)

Please Clarification[edit]

Hello Doneve, I read your correction of the McCarrons Armored Cavalry. My Source suggest that brigade lost only two unit the 1st and 4th Mac not the second (Ref. FM 3085 p. 20 + 26) and not three. Furthermore the unit were destroyed after the official ending of the Jihad in fights against the new RAF. The 1st were destroyed at Gan Sign and the 4th at New Canton. (Ref. FM 3085 p. 26) Neuling 12:53, 22 May 2012 (PDT)

Upps you are right, the 2nd was not lost during the Jihad, thanks for point this out, i correct this.--Doneve 13:03, 22 May 2012 (PDT)

RAF Units[edit]

Hello Doneve all RAF units were created after the end of the jihad. For the composition: an usual Triarii Protectors unit consists

1 ’Mech battalion,
3 armor regiments,
3 infantry regiments,
aerospace support,
artillery support battalions (Ref:Fm 3085 p. 182) Neuling 07:15, 24 May 2012 (PDT)
I know, but i use at first the RAF Deployment Map on p. 185, and i disagree, not all units had the same composition.--Doneve 07:24, 24 May 2012 (PDT)
In case of the Triarii Protectors I give you the information from the book when you know other sources then tell me I'm waiting. For the RAF unit composition

Hastati Sentinels:

1 BattleMech regiment
2 armor regiments
3 infantry regiments
aerospace and artillery at company level for support (Ref. FM 3085 p.180)

Principes Guards

2 BattleMech battalions
2 armor regiments
3 infantry regiments
aerospace and artillery at company level for support (Ref. FM 3085 p.181)
You are right ;), but not all where shown in the Deployment map (ex: unit name, or commanding officer's)

Evantha Fetladral demands an image! I don't know if any exist besides the CCG one. Think you can help out? (the article is far from done, I just wanted to start it at least) --Rebs 20:38, 27 May 2012 (PDT)

Sorry, but the CCG is the only i can found.--Doneve 05:09, 28 May 2012 (PDT)
That's cool. I could not find the stuff to even get that one uploaded to the article. Thanks man. Figured I would at least cover a few more Wolves after all those Coyotes. --Rebs 06:49, 28 May 2012 (PDT)
Hey Doneve! Got a couple more for you if you have time to upload some images... Wolf Clan Sourcebook. Hannibal Sradac has an image on p. 78, Edwina Carns has an image on page 93, and if you could, there is a good image of a young Katya Kerensky on p. 82, if you could upload that to her gallery that would be awesome. I'll add the info.--Rebs 07:54, 29 May 2012 (PDT)

Glad i can't help you, and thanks for the creation of some clan bios, we had a lack of the last 2 years of contributors to push up the clan's section, best wishes.--Doneve 12:39, 7 June 2012 (PDT)

Sandbox "vandalism"[edit]

Hi Doneve, I saw you reverted an edit to Help:Sandbox and called it vandalism. I'm willing to assume that the user in question only tried out editing with some (any) text. Since the sandbox is essentially that, and the user in question was a registered user, and didn't spam or insert ad links, I think vandalism is an inappropriately harsh word; keep in mind such a revert might be off-putting for fellow editors who are using the sandbox for learning the ropes as it is intended. Frabby 12:25, 30 May 2012 (PDT)

Another pic request[edit]

For your review: Delta Regiment[edit]

Delta Regiment (Wolf's Dragoons) is up. Obviously, a lot of work went into this one.
As usual, thanks go out to Doneve, who uploaded several images that were ultimately used. Obviously, the pics add a lot to this article, and keep it from becoming just a mindless block of text.
One of my goals with this project was to improve upon the design of my Alpha Regiment (Wolf's Dragoons) article. To that end, I've streamlined several processes, most notably the reference tags, using what's become the accepted approach. In short, I updated my own style. While it took a lot of time, I think it went okay.
As you can see above, I've written a number of articles about Delta's commanding officers and so on. This means I can reuse some of that material when I write a comprehensive article like this one. As it turned out, the writing still needed to be massaged, but if that wasn't the case, I would have been doing something wrong. Nevertheless, its easier to write a bunch of small articles before trying to put together a beast like this.
When I decided to write comprehensive articles on each of the WD regiments, I always knew Alpha would be my first and Delta my second. There were two reasons, there: First, Delta has a lot of extra material on it from its involvement in the Coventry campaign. Second, Delta avoided the Dragoon Civil War/Elson's Challenge (popularized in Wolf Pack). That particular event will prove very difficult to cover, as it exists only in broad terms in the sourcebooks and we only get certain perspectives in the WP novel. But that's a talk for another day.
For now, please enjoy reading about Delta Regiment. Thanks, and I look forward to your feedback. ClanWolverine101 16:09, 1 June 2012 (PDT)

Question[edit]

Doneve - Have you heard from Rev or Frabby? ClanWolverine101 13:46, 7 June 2012 (PDT)

Hy CW, i heard 1 month or so nothing from Revanche, i think he is overhelmt with work or is on travell.--Doneve 13:53, 7 June 2012 (PDT)

New Category Request[edit]

Hey Doneve! I wrote a Dragoon Compromise page, and in light of a lot more pages that I will be writing, I would like to ask if it would be OK to set up a Category: Clan Politics page. Unless maybe there is something like it already. There's going to be a few pages made for it soon, like Invader Clans, Home Clans, The Great Debate, Dog Clans, The Snake Alliance, etc... I was wondering what You or anyone else thought about that idea. --Rebs 15:23, 10 June 2012 (PDT)

Just sticking my nose in here as I'm asking Doneve a question anyway - you might find it best to use the Factions category. I think (and I'm cudgeling my memory here, because I'm too lazy to go and look) that there are categories already for major and minor factions, plus some others. Factions don't necessarily have to be nations, although a lot of them are - they include things like political groups. BrokenMnemonic 11:09, 12 June 2012 (PDT)
No problem, I saw the political events tag and figured that works for me, I had forgotten about it. Information Overload. I've been sick lately with some type of Bronchitis, and my grandmother is also in an out of the hospital, so I have not been as productive as I was before. But thanks for tagging it, and I'll check out the factions categories for later use. --Rebs 07:54, 21 June 2012 (PDT)

Jihad Timeline Updates[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I hope you're keeping well? I'm plugging away at the Jihad timeline according to Jihad: Final Reckoning, and slowly adding to the errata thread over on the CGL forum as I find things. I'm a bit worried that a lot of the entries end up being copy and paste entries. I know that in theory, what should happen is that because I'm only using the truncated detail from the timeline entries, rather than the full fluffy entry from the individual Jihad books, someone will go through in the future and add all the extra detail from the books. In the meantime, it means there are a lot of brief and very similar details scattered across all sorts of articles. I don't want to make Sarna look bad - do you think it's ok to keep going as I've been doing so far? BrokenMnemonic 11:09, 12 June 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, all is well, thanks. At first your JH:FR update and so on looks not bad, you added a lot of minor infos to some planet, unit, character articles etc. etc., i do the same at this time to update the composition history of some units, i know we do a lot of copy and past but i don't see any problem to this not, if any user or admin had problems with this style he can talk to us, but no talk or conses occured we are on the right way Smiley.gif.--Doneve 11:23, 12 June 2012 (PDT)

wrong composition information[edit]

Hello Doneve, I discover that the information for several units are wrong

- Magistracy Cavaliers: The armor and infantry formation were expanded to regiment level and the expierence rating dropped to regular for the Cavalier Mountain Men Guards. FM Periphery p.39 + FM Upadte p. 201)

- 4th Donegal Guards: The aerospace brigade has an rating as elite and the infantry formations are veteran not regular. Furthermore the Commanding Officer is Leutnant-General Koshori Laguna and not Leftenant-General Ivan Bersch by the infantry. FM Upadte p. 179.

with best regards Neuling 05:10, 16 June 2012 (PDT)

The Plague![edit]

Hi Doneve, I'm wrestling with a minor problem I thought you might be able to give me advice on. I'm looking at page 13 of Jihad: Final Reckoning at the panel entitled "Plagued By Blake". It's all about the Redburn Virus, the disease engineered by the Word of Blake and which killed Andrew Redburn before appearing on various worlds throughout the Word of Blake Protectorate. One of the things I'll need to do is add a mention of the plague to each of the planets listed, but I'm debating whether it's worth writing a Sarna article on the Redburn Virus itself. In particular, I'm wondering how to categorize such an article; I can't see existing categories for plagues or epidemics, and searching for previous such things as the Brisbane Virus or the Curse of Galedon didn't show up any particular articles. If I did write an article, what category or categories would you suggest adding it to? I know that we have a lot of weapon articles, and I was debating whether it might be worth having a Bioweapon category - after all, both the Curse of Galedon and the Redburn virus were bioengineered to be weapons, and I'm sure some of the sourcebooks have given us rules for bioweapons (and chemical weapons) - perhaps Historical: Reunification War - which might also make for articles for a Bioweapon category, although that might also tread too far into IPR/Copyright areas. What do you think? BrokenMnemonic 06:45, 21 June 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, at first i see no Copyright problems when you create a Bioweapon category and articles for the cat., as second, you're the first user want create article's about [Plague's] and [Bioweapons] this is great, i think we name the categories [Bioweapons] and [Plague's], then we can link the Bioweap. to the [Technology] and [Weapons] category and the [Plague's] to the [Miscellaneous] category. Oh i forgot to say we have some Death and Dying Worlds there shattered by the Wobblis and you can add some fluff to this planets, what do think. --Doneve 07:08, 21 June 2012 (PDT)
That sounds good - I'm not sure how much more I'll get done today, but I'll make a start on the Redburn Virus article first, and then work on the Curse of Galedon. One of the things I do want to do is get more detail in on those worlds that died during the Jihad, and before, where we know the world actually died and is uninhabitable. It bugs me a bit that there's so little detail on Alarion, which had some very memorable entries in the Jihad books, and I've already expanded the entry on Galedon V to cover the Clan Snow Raven bombardment of the planet and then the DCMS nuking of the world. Jihad: Final Reckoning has a very good description of the bombing of Paradise, and it actually describes the Regulan attack as being exactly like the tactics used in the first or second Succession War when a Great House wanted to destroy a planet - that's something that should probably be referenced in the articles on the early Succesion Wars, I think. I've been looking at the list of dead and dying worlds I've got, and most of them have some detail on in the various books. I haven't seen anything on Aea or McEvedy's Folly though, both of which were apparently destroyed in the Jihad (although McEvedy's Folly is still on the 3130 map). Have you ever seen anything in print on either world? I must remember to get the detail from Jihad Hot Spots: Terra on New Dallas and Lone Star into the planet articles too, particularly given that they reflect what apparently happened to a number of important Terran Hegemony planets after the Star League fell. There's always so much to do, isn't there? BrokenMnemonic 07:27, 21 June 2012 (PDT)
Great, i start some data mining of the death and dying worlds, when i found some infos in the various sources i talk to you.--Doneve 07:35, 21 June 2012 (PDT)
My turn to stick my nose in. Bio Weapons category would be awesome, because as you see from the red links adding up, The Society will need to be written up one day soon. That day is looming... (maybe I'll finally get to the elusive Kael Pershaw! but that's a different conversation) Some of the major plagues they unleashed will fall into the new category too. --Rebs 08:01, 21 June 2012 (PDT)

Image Request and a Question about additional sources[edit]

Hey Doneve! I wrote an article for Lynn McKenna. There's an image of her in Masters and Minions on p. 158 (not sure of the year it is supposed to represent) and another of her in Warden Clans on p. 124 from 3061. Hope you can upload them soon. Also, and this is huge... do you know any more sources for her? Specifically, which Jihad books would have the best stuff? You or anyone else can chime in on that one, or if anyone feels up to it, go ahead and fill in the blanks, otherwise I'm happy to do it myself. --Rebs 00:43, 24 June 2012 (PDT)

Hy Rebs! I uploade the images, and as second have you looked in The Wars of Reaving Supplemental.--Doneve 09:16, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
Thanks for the Lynn McKenna... Alberto Crow will be up soon (I'm finishing the article soon). He's on page 159 of Masters and Minions. Been busy with holidays and summer (it's hotter than Hades here right now) but I'll be back on the ball when and where I can. --Rebs 01:12, 7 July 2012 (PDT)

1st Syrtis Fusiliers[edit]

Hy Doneve,
Sorry for overwriting your changes on the 1st Syrtis Fusiliers - I was creating an article for them from scratch, and between one preview and the next, your article appeared. I checked the content and I think I'd covered everything you'd posted to date, so I put mine over the top - I hope that's ok. The redlinks in articles like Flintoft were bugging me! BrokenMnemonic 11:22, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, no problem, i start today to create the missing new AFFS command articles, but as stubs, then you can fill in what you want.--Doneve 11:40, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

Torrent (Character)[edit]

Doneve, I was looking over the categories that you added for Torrent and I was just wondering if the category for mercenary character shouldn't be removed. The Steel Wolves during his life were considered a splinter group of The Republic that was fighting for the Clan Wolf way of life under Kal Radick. They didn't become a mercenary company until Anastasia Kerensky took over as leader, and that wasn't for another two to three years until she did, (going by the time line of the books where it would be Wolf Hunters). DerangedShadow 04:23, 6 July 2012 (PDT)

Hy, i removed the wrong chategory link.--Doneve 04:36, 6 July 2012 (PDT)

New Character Pages[edit]

Doneve, I was wondering with all of these new character pages that I have been adding due to the books about Dark Age. Should I add the biographies wiki project to the discussion as well as the the categories which the person goes to, or should I not and have one of the higher end editors/administrators add those? DerangedShadow 16:02, 8 July 2012 (PDT)

Hy please add the bio. template to the talk page, and as second its more usefull for everybody when the articles have category links, it is essier for other members to find some charcter very quick, and thanks for the articles.--Doneve 16:57, 8 July 2012 (PDT)

Structures[edit]

Hy Doneve, I hope you're well?

I've been looking at the Castle Brian structures in Jihad Hot Spots: Terra and thinking about trying to get them on here, as I did with the Rattler mobile structure. The Structure template is a bit weird, though. I can only find one building that uses it on here to begin with, the Kiudo temporary fortress, which is partly apocryphal. I've debated fiddling with the Structures template to make it look a bit more like the format for the Castle Brian structures in JHS:T, but I thought it might be a good idea to have more than one source of reference. I can't really find anything that gives another example of a structure, though. Can you think of any structures that have canonical stats in any of the sourcebooks?

On a seperate note, have you had a chance to look at Field Manual: SLDF? Do you think it's a sourcebook it's worth me rushing out and buying to read right now, or is it something I can get away with buying in a few months time when I've finished all the other projects I've got going on? BrokenMnemonic 05:24, 18 July 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, all is well thanks. I found only in HexPack Promotion 1 some structures, you can downloaded it from the CGL site as free download and it is a cannon source.
That sounds like a good idea, thank you - I'll snag a copy this weekend, do some comparisons to see if they match, and take a spin at updating the template if needed.
Ok, so now a quick review of Field Manual: SLDF.

Its 264 pages. It has about 32 pages of typical field manual stuff. Ranks, organization, a short bit of history, typical stuff you'd see in any other FM, and formatted about the same. The next TWO HUNDRED pages, yeap, thats right, TWO ZERO ZERO pages, are devoted to giving a few lines on every single division the SLDF deployed in 2750, as well as some notes on a few of the independent regiments. If you love the SLDF, like many of us do, you will WANT this book. I haven't read it yet, but sheesh, its more on those 469 divisions (I assume they got them all, roughly 6 on a page so I think so) than we have ever gotten before. Oh, and just as a bonus, they give some fluff on the fleets as well.

You then have your silly RATs, with Mechs/Vehicles/Aerospace, in both Royal and standard variants, nothing surprising.

Then a few pages with some special unit abilities of about half a dozen units per army, including some independent regiments. Just a select few, far from every one.

Then you get a couple pretty pages with color ranks/awards, then about a dozen color maps. These maps are like the recent books where it shows division deployments on the map. You have a map for each inner sphere and major periphery power, plus the hegemony. Then you get a nice map showing the whole inner sphere with lines denoting corps level operating areas (no planets, just region lines). Then you get a beautiful 2764 color map. Not sure why CGL is stupid about sending these off to the online print companies so we can order posters, its free money for them, oh well. Then you get a little map of the hegemony with SDS/Castle Brian icons around the systems that had them.

I hope this helps.--Doneve 06:49, 18 July 2012 (PDT)

It sounds like something I need to pick up when my pay comes in at the end of the month - I used the wishlist sale on DriveThruRPG to grab half a dozen books last month so I'm well stocked for reading, but you know how much of a sucker I am for the maps. Is the color map in the same style as that of the Field Reports, with the big coloured symbols for planets, or is it more like the 3130 Dark Age map?
I really like the idea of being able to go through all the SLDF division entries here and give them some fluff - all the entries are pretty bare bones at the moment, unless the unit had some later significance. Updating them all with even a few lines of extra text to make each distinctive would be a very satisfying project. BrokenMnemonic 01:47, 19 July 2012 (PDT)
Sorry for the late response, i print out the maps, there looks greate, it is the same style of the Field Report maps, but with more info of the units there stay on planets, and more info there we can use on the planet pages and our little Wink.gif map gallery, when the moratorium has expired i upload all of this great images to the gallery and to the rellevant pages.--Doneve 16:59, 20 July 2012 (PDT)

Plagiarism[edit]

Hy Doneve,

Thanks for clearing out the Wannamaker's Widowmakers article - I wasn't sure quite what to do with it when I found it last night, and it was already getting late. I think I've found two more mercenary unit articles that have been plagiarised, but I don't have my copy of the Mercenaries Supplemental Update handy to check - if yours is handy, can you take a quick look at Gordon's Armored Cavalry and Clean Kill please? I think someone's done the same copy and dump from MS:U that was done with the Widowmakers. BrokenMnemonic 00:14, 27 July 2012 (PDT)

Morning BM, i checked [Mercenaries Supplemental Update], the [Clean Kill] article was plagarized and [Gordon's Armored Cavalry] is not plagiarized, thanks for catch this.--Doneve 00:36, 27 July 2012 (PDT)
Phew, thanks for taking care of that - hopefully, there aren't any more floating around like that. When I've finished with Jihad Hot Spots: Terra I may sit down and go through the MSU - I'll need another new project, and that may be the quickest way to check to see if any more plagiarised mercenary units are floating around here. Vendôme[edit]

Hy Doneve,

Nice to have you back Smiley.gif I hope the holidays were good?

Have you heard of a place called Vendôme in canon? I'm not sure if it's a planet, or something else; I'm at work, so I don't have a lot of the sourcebooks handy to check, but it's mentioned in JHS:3072, which is what I'm currently tinkering with. The context is a report from one of the Jade Falcon Star Captains, where he says "My contact within the Hell's Horses Watch made me aware of this alarming news last week during a standard merchant transfer out at Watchpoint 6. Our merchant caste received the last of our material shipments for the new facility on Vendôme from the Horses during this time." That makes it sounds like a planet, but I can't find another mention of it in any of the books I've got here. BrokenMnemonic 04:52, 29 August 2012 (PDT)

Holla, the holidays were superp, Malta was a great trip :).
I checked some sources, and i can't found any info to [Vendôme], can you give me the page number from [JHS:3072] where the name is mentioned.--Doneve 05:16, 29 August 2012 (PDT)
The reference I've got is page 20 of JHS:3072, the section entitled "Falcons on Guard". I found a reference on Google, which talks about a "Duchy of Vendôme" and makes it sound like a Periphery world - possibly one of the Chainelaine isles - but I can't see it on a map anywhere.BrokenMnemonic 06:14, 29 August 2012 (PDT)
Vendôme is mentioned in the Chainelane Isles article but I don't know who wrote it or what the source was-Volt 00:16, 30 August 2012 (PDT)
The Chainelane Isles article is talking about the Duchy of Vendôme though, and from the context, I think it's probably a quote from the second Periphery sourcebook, although I don't have a copy to hand. I'm not convinced that Vendôme and the Duchy of Vendôme are the same thing, but if they are, it poses the question of why there isn't a world or system named Vendôme shown in the maps in FM: 3085 in or near the Chainelane Isles... BrokenMnemonic 01:29, 30 August 2012 (PDT)
Found it. It's from Explorer Corps (sourcebook), p. 57 where the Duchy of Vendôme is described as a "petty kingdom" (one of many comprising the Chainelane Isles) whose military vanished overnight shortly before the Clan invasion. ComStar assumes the Clans tested the military prowess of the Isles against this ministate and were dismayed enough to dismiss them and pass them over. No Clan presence was found at the time. Frabby 11:04, 30 August 2012 (PDT)
So, JHS:3072 makes Vendôme sound like a planet, the EC and Periphery 2nd Ed. sourcebooks don't confirm if it's a planet or an area of a planet, but both suggest it's in the Chainelaine Isles, only it doesn't show up on a map. Great. I'd better work up the enthusiasm to post another Ask The Writers question - if I was prone to speculation, I'd say that Vendôme sounds like a likely candidate for being like Thomas, a secondary planet in a named system, but I bet I won't get a definitive answer from TPTB. What originally prompted my question was an internal debate over whether to generate a planet entry for Vendôme, and I think I'm none the wiser on whether to create one or not. Is it too early to go back to bed? BrokenMnemonic 00:05, 31 August 2012 (PDT)
Personally, I don't think Vendôme is a world/planet. The article on the Chainelaine Isles claimed the ministates there each claimed "a few" worlds but I doubt this given that I coudn't find any source for this particular bit of information and given the rather small number of systems in the Isles versus the numerous warring factions.
That said, there is nothing to rule out Vendôme being a secondary world in one of the Isles' systems, or perhaps it is one of the seven otherwise unnamed systems in the Chaine Cluster. The Watch Report from JHS:3072 refers to a facility "on Vendôme" but that may refer to a region (island, continent, whatever) just as easily as to a whole world. In any case, there is no conclusive proof of Vendôme being a planetary body, and under these circumstances I don't think it needs its own entry.
Btw, before that map was published I was fairly certain that Kore (Ghost of Winter) must be in the Chainelaine Isles. Looks like I was wrong, or again, possibly one of the cluster systems. Frabby 01:47, 31 August 2012 (PDT)
I'd expect Vendome to be close to the former Greater Valkyrate worlds, given that it was described as being on the Clan invasion path, but I don't think there's much that can be done at the moment other than to Ask The Writers, which will probably get the answer "that information hasn't been revealed in canon yet". I'll go ask the question... although I might leave it til tomorrow morning, as a depressing number of my questions there lack answers... BrokenMnemonic 12:57, 3 September 2012 (PDT)

Apollo-Four Shipyards[edit]

Hy Doneve,

You're the resident manufacturing centres expert, so I thought I'd pose you a question. I'm datamining Historical: Liberation of Terra Volume 1 for bits and pieces - I'm on a WarShip and planet references hunt - and I've just written up the battle at New Earth. The battle report mentions a shipyard in orbit at a Lagrange point above the fifth planet in the system. The shipyard is considered important enough that the bulk of the surviving SLDF WarShips go to defend it after the battle, and the name of the shipyard is the Apollo-Four shipyards owned by Nicholas Spacecraft.

I can't find a reference to either the shipyards or the company here on Sarna or in the rest of the Historical. Given that I have no idea what the shipyards produced or what happened to it at the moment, I'm not sure that anything more exists; is that enough information to generate a manufacturer's page? Alternatively, is there something akin to the List of minor mercenary units for corporations, that the shipyards should be added to? BrokenMnemonic 13:03, 3 September 2012 (PDT)

Hy BM, Apollo-Four shipyards is only mentioned in H:HLoTV1, i take a look in The Star League, and hope i can find some info, when you think you have enough informations create a manufacturer stub page.--Doneve 13:26, 3 September 2012 (PDT)

I made a Curse of Galedon page and categorized it as that but it's a red link, so I was not sure yet if it was done or if I'm too tired to be editing ;) And I categorized it as a Clan Trial because of the Ravens Annihilating Galedon V and a few of their own ships because of it. --Rebs 00:23, 6 September 2012 (PDT)

Nearby Systems[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I think there may be a problem with the data you're using to generate the Nearest Systems tables. I'm going through updating owner histories to reflect the Star League maps (all those uncited 2750 owner records were bugging me) and using a copy of the ER 2750 and H:LoTV1 maps I'm colouring in to track which worlds I've done. I've just done New Valencia, and one of the closest worlds to New Valencia is Acoma - but it doesn't show up on the nearest neighbours table, which you updated just a couple of days ago. Minor Noble Houses[edit]

Hi, saw you created this category. Why the differentiation? We don't even have a category "Major Noble Houses" either, and even if we had, there would only be five (or at most around a dozend) contenders. And we shouldn't differentiate between "minor" and "not minor" anyways, because there are no clear rules as to what constitutes a minor or major House. I suggest we put them in one single category, "Noble Houses" (or perhaps even "Houses"). Frabby 03:09, 15 September 2012 (PDT)

You're a mind reader. I have a Kael Pershaw tab open and formatted right now, getting filled in, slowly. That image on page 5 of the FM: Crusader Clans would be awesome! Plus all the others, scattered around, I don't even know them all... Glad you keep track of that stuff for us, because I couldn't, my organization skills extend to writing, art and music, and even that's hit and miss at times.
By the way, your instructional pages on how to build different unit types are an excellent resource unto themselves. By making those, you will be teaching people to play. That makes you an ambassador of the game itself, and not just Sarna, but certainly to both. Ten years (or twenty or one hundred years) from now when these pages are still up, there will be younger people who will say they learned a lot about playing just from those articles. I myself learned a lot about tanks and vehicles just from reading them, so I know they will help others who also only know 'Mechs and ASFs and the main stuff.--Rebs 12:13, 19 September 2012 (PDT)

New Planets[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I hope you're well? As you can probably tell, I've been working my way through the maps in Era Report: 2750 and H:LoTV1, updating all the planet owner history records. It's a bit laborious, but I'm finding it rather satisfying - I've fixed four dozen or so of the 2750 owner history dates we inherited with the original cartography data that created the planet articles that were just plain wrong. You'd be surprised how many worlds on the FedSuns/Combine border had the wrong affiliation, and how many worlds in the CapCon they seem to think were Hegemony worlds - all the way down to the St. Ives border.

Anyway, as a part of updating the various records, I've added a handful of new planets to Sarna. They don't appear on my co-ordinates list, but I'm working from an older version - if they're on yours, could you work your magic and add co-ordinates to them please? The ones I've added as at this morning are Shaun, Lamu, Rhodos, Baruun Urt and Quimper (the other one). I've almost finished the CapCon now, which will be three Successor States out of five done... I know, my failur, i remove the update needed tag.--Doneve (talk) 08:36, 16 October 2012 (PDT)
No problem. It just confused me. :)--Mbear(talk) 10:10, 16 October 2012 (PDT)

SLDF Unit Entry Error[edit]

Hy Doneve,

I thought I'd give you a hand with fixing the copy and paste error in all those SDLF units. I don't have my copy of the Star League sourcebook handy at the moment (it's at home, I'm at work) but if I don't get a chance to fix it when I get home, could you take a look at the 25th Striker Regiment? It looks like the unit article's been created from a House book rather than the Star League sourcebook, so all the SLSB detail's missing. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 02:32, 18 October 2012 (PDT)

You are right the [25th Striker Regiment] article is created from House Steiner (The Lyran Commonwealth), and i started to fix the copy and past error and expand the pages a little bit.--Doneve (talk) 08:38, 18 October 2012 (PDT)
Is it just me, or are there a lot of SLDF units? Although I'm finding a little odd that there's only one Medium Tank regiment, and one Heavy Armor regiment. Now I'm home, if I can get my housework done I may sit down with the SLSB and see if I can chase up some of the oddities.
On a completely different topic, have you had a look at any of the three new PDfs released? Any thoughts? I'm debating buying XTRO: Phantoms, although I'm not sure it'll have what I'm interested in. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:07, 18 October 2012 (PDT)
Yep a lot of SLDF units, we have more work when the moratorium of Field Manual: SLDF ended ;), as second i buy only [XTRO: Phantoms] and [Historical Turning Point: Antallos], i think in ...Antallos is a lot of planet info.--Doneve (talk) 09:13, 18 October 2012 (PDT)

Image Request[edit]

Hey Doneve. Hope all is well with you. I'm working on the Steel Vipers, and I could use the image of Sanra Mercer from page 83 of Invading Clans. It's round and in the middle of the page, so you might have to whiteout the writing around it, but I would really really appreciate it if you uploaded it for me. :) And then get ready to upload more, because considering the Steel Vipers are a dead Clan, their leaders have a lot of images. Natalie Breen, Christopher Ahmed, Dawn of the Moffats, Perigard Zalman, Boyle Grimani and of course, the Bloody ilKhan himself, Brett Andrews. This is going to be a good October! --Rebs (talk) 19:56, 23 October 2012 (PDT)

Thank you sir! You are the man, as always. Is this one a good article? I tried to catch everything before hitting the save button, and had only one little snafu to fix with the categories. If not, then the next one will be better. --Rebs (talk) 05:38, 24 October 2012 (PDT)
Hy Rebs! The article looks good to me, you added all relevant infos you can found, another great character bio, good work :).--Doneve (talk) 05:43, 24 October 2012 (PDT)

SLDF 20th Fleet[edit]

Hy Doneve,

How're you?

I was just looking at the update you made to the SLDF 20th Fleet listing using information from Field Manual: SLDF, and I noticed that FM:SLDF changes the number of squadrons within the 20th Fleet compared to those given in Historical: Liberation of Terra Vol 1. Is FM:SLDF definitely set around 2764/2765? If it is, then it looks like either FM:SLDF or H:LoTV1 is in error, and a question over on the CGL forum may be needed to clarify which is right. If FM:SLDF is set in 2750, then it's probably just a case of them having 4 squadrons then and dropping down to 3 by the Periphery Uprising...

I was looking at the New Dallas entry yesterday, and it occured to me that until you and I started all the planets work ages ago, there was literally nothing about New Dallas here on Sarna other than an isolated reference to the Memory core, despite the detail being out there in some of the books... and now, thanks to you and me, there's a big planet article there, with co-ordinates, and an owner history, and an actual descriptive history of what happened on the planet from the Age of War through to the Succession Wars. If there's a page on sarna that shows how much you and I've managed to get done over the last 18 months, I think it's the New Dallas page. Makes me rather proud, really Smiley.gif BrokenMnemonic (talk) 00:20, 15 November 2012 (PST)

Hy BM, when you look on page 5 of FM:SLDF there is a report from Aaron Dechavilier there is stated that the FM is set in 2764, i hope this helps a little bit.
And yes, you and I are only the two guys to push the planet pages, but i was a little bit outburnded to update the planet pages by the new maps from FM:SLDF and other sources, i concentrate my work in next time to the SLDF commands, and missing corps of the Armies.--Doneve (talk) 06:05, 15 November 2012 (PST)
At some point, I'm going to have to buy FM:SLDF and have a read through. It sounds as if FM:SLDF and H:LoTV1 are set a year apart, so presumably the fourth squadron got redeployed between the two, but it'll take an Ask The Writer question to get a clear answer. I'll add it to the list!
I've been doing some work on the planets recently, mainly trying to get the owner history update done for the 2596/2750/2765/3130 dates, but I had to take a break. It's been satisfying, going through and correcting mistakes in the ISAS (you'd be amazed how many planets had the wrong 2750 affiliation) but after 2,000 or so planets I was starting to go a bit stir crazy. I've kept a copy of my working map though, so I can finish off the FWL at some point when I get my enthusiasm back. I've been pottering through other books just for the variety, I think... Hold off on update needed for SLDF commands for a while.[edit]

Doneve,

Since every SLDF command is going to need to be updated with FM:SLDF content, and I don't want the Update Needed page to grow to a huge list that scares off newcomers, I'm going to put an Update Needed tag on the Category: Star league Defense Force Commands page. That way we'll know they need to be updated and the list will actually shrink (for the first time in years).--Mbear(talk) 12:23, 15 November 2012 (PST)

Ok, good idea to put a update needed template to the category, i follow your way.--Doneve (talk) 12:27, 15 November 2012 (PST)
Thanks. I've just been able to get the list down to about 1300 entries, if it goes up to 2200 I might cry. (I seem to be the only one using the Updates Needed list to actually update articles, and adding the 900+ SLDF articles would just kill my motivation, you know?)--Mbear(talk) 12:30, 15 November 2012 (PST)
And we can add the individual units once the 1300 list has been reduced even more.--Mbear(talk) 12:31, 15 November 2012 (PST)
Hahaha, I know what you mean, when i updated the owner history on planet pages i cray also, oh and i think you are not alone to minimize the update needed entries, BrokenMnemonic do the same in last time.--Doneve (talk) 12:35, 15 November 2012 (PST)
I feel a bit guilty that I don't help more with trying to reduce the Update Needed list, but it's one of those things that falls under the soul-destroying category for me. I find it frustrating to keep coming across Update Needed tags in articles where it turns out the sourcebook mentioned has perhaps two sentences in it that are relevant, if that. It always makes me question why the article was tagged, rather than just edited to include the detail in the first place. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 04:07, 16 November 2012 (PST)
Agreed. That's why I asked Doneve to hold off on adding the Update needed tag. But there are some planets and stuff that will be more stable (in terms of content) so by filling those pages we can (hopefully) avoid some of the soul-destroying.--Mbear(talk) 07:24, 16 November 2012 (PST)

update needed[edit]

Thanks for holding off on adding the tag. I'd just like to get it under 1000 just for a few days, you know? A week ago I actually created a printout with the contents of update needed page and it's 26 pages long!--Mbear(talk) 10:33, 21 November 2012 (PST)

Is it possible to sort the updates needed by publication type? I sometimes crack through 10-20 pages of ap ublication I'm finding interesting at the time, datamining and removing update needed tags. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 11:11, 21 November 2012 (PST)
I'm not aware of any way other than clicking every link and seeing what's listed.
Also, we may as well start putting the update needed tag on those things you've been holding off, like Objectives FWL. (I've still got the one on the SLDF COmmands category so we won't need one there.)-- User:Mbear 07:42, 3 December 2012 (PST)

Appreciation[edit]

Dude, you and BrokenMnemonic seem to be running the wiki 80% of the time these days! Keep it up! :) Seeing how you've already got 10 All Purpose Awards, have an RAA award instead. Random Act of Appreciation Award, 9th ribbon Frabby (talk) 00:13, 30 November 2012 (PST)

Angus Labov[edit]

Doneve, thanks for fixing up the page. I just started the article a few hours ago. I'll be adding the cites tomorrow. Informally, I used Field Manual: Warden Clans, The Clans: Warriors of Kerensky, and Wars of Reaving. Most of this draws from the Field Manual, which goes into some detail about Labov and his challenges. Wars of Reaving gives the rest, right down to the bitter end. 24.99.61.188 20:38, 18 December 2012 (PST)

Hy mister anonymos, at first the best way is you create a accound and give you a name, i don't like IP's Wink.gif, as second, great article, i appriciate your work, if you have any questions about formating or other thinks, talk to me, i can help you and give you some support.--Doneve (talk) 20:50, 18 December 2012 (PST)
