User talk:Khan Kell
Hi Khan Kell,
I spotted your note on one of the article talk pages about having trouble adding references to the article, so I thought I'd drop you a note about it.
There's a help page here on the wiki about using references, which you can find here: Help:References and it covers the various ways in which references can be formatted and added to articles. The actual references sub-section within each article is actually simply where a piece of code is stored that the wiki runs when it loads a page to pull all of the reference details out of the article and compile them in a list, so you shouldn't find any references actually in that section itself when you edit the article directly. That's not always the case - some of the articles, particularly those dealing with equipment, still have references hardcoded into that section in the old format, but we all try not to do that any longer and they're slowly clearing them up.
The section you want to look at in the Help: References page in particular is the one on the detailed method. That's the one that we encourage using here, and if you take a look at any of the articles I've written, you'll see them being used throughout. To add the reference you mentioned to the Death Commandos article, you'd need to format the reference as shown in the help page, and then put it in the article immediately after the information that needs referencing. The references section in the article will then sort it self out automatically.
Does that help? BrokenMnemonic (talk) 00:08, 18 February 2015 (PST)
