The 123rd Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History[edit]

In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the XXX Corps Army, Twelfth, to District 2 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery to take part in the Periphery Uprising by 2765.[2] The 123rd survived the war and the Hegemony Campaign and did not take part in Operation EXODUS. However, during ComStar's takeover of Terra in 2788, the 123rd and the 79th Mechanized Infantry Division refused to surrender to the ComStar commander, former SLDF Major General Lauren Hayes. The 79th and 123rd fought a series of running battles throughout the Amazon rainforests they now called home. While Hayes' ad hoc forces boasted superior numbers, the terrain of the Amazon basin served as a formidable defense and the two rebel divisions inflicted heavy losses before they finally fell in the face of a combined attack from the 13th Royal Infantry Division supported by the 3rd Striker Regiment of the former 251st BattleMech Division that surrounded and shattered their stronghold in the city of Manaus.[3][4][5]
