History

The homeworld of the 12th Deneb Light Cavalry was Tybalt.

Fourth Succession War

During the early months of the Fourth Succession War Coordinator Takashi Kurita was focused on his conflict with the Wolf's Dragoons mercenary brigade, but following pleas for help from Chancellor Maximilian Liao the DCMS planned and launched additional offensives against perceived weak spots on the Federated Suns border. The Galtor Thumb region was one such weak spot, and David was invaded by Brion's Legion and the Ninth Dieron Regulars, two regiments assigned to the Dieron Military District under the command of Warlord Vasily Cherenkoff. The deployment of the Ninth and Brion's Legion bore the hallmarks of an internal political move within the DCMS - a consequence of Cherenkoff trying to deny Theodore Kurita the use of his troops - and the opening stages of the battle for David between the two Combine regiments and the defending Twelfth Deneb Light Cavalry were largely inconclusive. Helping the Light Cavalry's efforts was a combination of a planetary militia determined to help thwart the invader's efforts, and a civilian population that aided the Light Cavalry when it could.[1]

While the lull in major offensives in early 3029 gave the Light Cavalry a chance to regroup, the renewed offensive launched by the two DCMS regiments in May caught the Light cavalry by surprise. Marshal Petroff Haveson tried to break contact with the two enemy regiments, but could only manage to avoid one at a time, forcing his hand. He formed the Light Cavalry into a defensive formation at Danson's Hill, and used subterfuge to trick Colonel Pythonius Brion into revealing himself - allowing the Light Cavalry to target him specifically when Brion's Legion attacked. With Colonel Brion dead, the Legion broke and ran, with the Light Cavalry in hot pursuit.[2]

Afraid of the consequences of their cowardice and ashamed of their actions, the Legion ran to the ComStar compound at the HPG and requested sanctuary, leaving the Ninth to fight alone. ComStar eventually picked up the contract for Brion's Legion, and Takahashi Kurita was happy to see their contract with the Combine dissolved, citing the Dragon's lack of need for a collection of cowardly flower-sniffers. The campaign for David swung firmly in favour of the AFFS in June 3029, when the Forty-first Avalon Hussars returned to David and relieved the Light Cavalry. Heavily outnumbered, the Ninth retreated from David, leaving the planet under Federated Suns control.[2]

Clan Invasion

In 3053 a group of AFFS units attacked the Draconis Combine without orders. The DCMS response sent several units to Addicks. The Twelfth Deneb Light Cavalry and 12th Vegan Rangers arrived on the world and forced the DCMS units to return to the Combine.[3]

During a raid by the Red Corsair in 3055, the Twelfth DLC was assigned to garrison an industrial complex. The Corsairs were able to scatter the battalion of DLC troops present and make off with a considerable amount of equipment.[4]

FedCom Civil War

During the FedCom Civil War, the 12th DLC focused on attacking the Draconis Combine. They took the world of Al Na'ir, using only their 'Mech unit because Al Na'ir was an airless rock of a world. To compensate for the loss of their conventional units, they received an additional AeroSpace Fighter wing, several MI-6 teams, and three battalions of Battle Armor, as well as a regiment of marines.[5] Arriving at several pirate jump points the 12th quickly took control of Al Na'ir's surface, and eventually found a way into the interior of the world. The 12th faced the 24th Dieron Regulars, and the 12th quickly learned to deal with the kamikaze charges of the DCMS regulars. These ongoing human wave attacks destroyed the 24th Regulars and inflicted little to no damage on the 12th DLC.[6] After destroying the 24th Dieron Regulars the 12th rebuilt themselves with Combine equipment produced by Scarborough Manufacturers and Yori 'Mech Works. They also provided cover for DMI officers who sorted through the large amounts of information left behind on the capital world of the Al Na'ir Prefecture.[7]

It would be a year before the Dragon could send forces to face the 12th. The 15th Dieron Regulars and 10th Ghost regiment both arrived at Al Na'ir. The 12th DLC's AeroSpace Fighter wings were able to repel three separate landing attempts.[8] The DCMS forces couldn't land on the world until they received reinforcements in the form of the 12th Ghost regiment and an additional wing of AeroSpace Fighters. Once these reinforcements arrived, the 12th Deneb rapidly lost control of the system, and General Zibler gave the order to withdraw. Though she and several other command officers were killed by a DEST trooper the 12th was able to withdraw in good order.[9]

Shortly after this they relocated to Addicks, where they and the Davion Assault Guards drove off raids by the 15th Dieron Regulars, 10th Ghost regiment, and Ryuken-ni.[10] After the Civil War, the 12th DLC was upgraded to a full RCT by adding several free infantry and armor regiments. As of 3067 the 12th Deneb Light Cavalry was acting as the OpFor for the Robinson Combat Training Center.[11]

The 12th's homeworld after the Civil War was Cassias.[12]

In 3025 the commanding officer is Marshal Petroff Haveson.[13]

As of 3050 to 3054 the unit is commanded by Leftenant General Jeffrey Neece.[14][15]

As of 3062 to 3067 the commanding officer was Leftenant General Ariel Zibler, he promoted later to an General.[16][12]
