The Twenty-second Rasalhagian Free Company was assigned to defend Vipaava.[1]

In August 3050, Vipaava was invaded by Clan Ghost Bear during the fourth wave of Operation REVIVAL, the Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere. The invading forces were drawn from the Fourteenth Battle Cluster, which deployed Alpha Battle Star of Twenty-third Battle Trinary and Alpha Nova Star of Seventy-sixth Supernova to capture the planet. The Ghost Bear forces issued a batchall to the defending Twenty-second Rasalhagian Free Company, who agreed to the challenge and to meet at the Lion's Den, a rock outcropping well away from the nearest cities and towns. Suspecting a trap, the Ghost Bear warriors were surprised to find the defending Twenty-second not only waiting to engage them at the agreed-upon location, but also willing to fight in an honorable fashion. Alpha Nova Star engaged the Twenty-second first and swiftly decimated the KungsArmé forces, forcing the survivors to surrender. The defeat of the Twenty-second was a major factor in convincing senior officers in the KungsArmé that winning a straight fight against Clan forces was impossible, and that new tactics would be needed.[2]
