Fourth Succession War

Ronin Wars

Stationed on Trondheim, the 2nd An Ting came under attack by the 25th Rasalhague Regulars. Operating under falsified orders, the 25th decimated the 2nd An Ting's barracks and motor pool in a well-organized surprise attack.

After two days, the 2nd An Ting rallied their forces outside of Misby Flats and attempted to retake the city from the 25th Rasalhague Regulars. During their approach; however, the 2nd came under prolonged artillery fire. Suffering from several hundred rounds of artillery fire, targeted without regard for the local citizenry, the 2nd withdrew and called for reinforcements.[1]

War of 3039

Clan Invasion

During the Clan Invasion the 2nd An Ting Legion was stationed on Tanh Linh with the 42nd Dieron Regulars. The two units expected to have a peaceful rotation after the Truce of Tukayyid, but the 3rd Jaguar Cavaliers attacked the world just two weeks after the Truce went into effect.[2]

Using their skill at night fighting to frustrate the Smoke Jaguars, the 2nd played a game of cat and mouse with the Jaguars, never staying in one place very long and keeping the Clan unit off-balance. Finally after a week of these tactics, the Smoke Jaguars pinned the 42nd Dieron Regulars against a mountain range and started blasting them to bits. The Second An Ting Legion slammed into the rear of the Jaguar unit, capturing it between the two DCMS units and driving it offworld. This was one of the earliest victories against the Clans, but a bittersweet one; The 42nd Dieron Regulars were destroyed and the Second suffered heavy losses.[2]

The Second An Ting was rotated to Leiston to rebuild. This rebuilding effort resulted in the Legion having a large amount of upgraded Inner Sphere equipment.

Operation Bulldog

In 3062 the Second was posted on Richmond. They faced the Fifth Bear Regulars of Clan Ghost Bear's Xi Galaxy.[3]

They also fought Mienacos, Irece, and Caripare.[4]

Dominion War

The Second An Ting Legion fought the 5th Bear Regulars on Richmond. The Bears inflicted serious losses on the Legion, but a strike to the Bear's rear area by the 2nd Sword of Light forced the Bear Regulars to withdraw.[5]

Federated Suns Incursion

Jihad

In late 3077 the Second An Ting Legion reinforced the 10th Pesht Regulars in their attack on Qandahar. While there, the two units expelled Black Dragon Society supporters and held the planet under martial law until a new civilian government could be installed. [6] They spent the next year hunting down Black Dragon supporters on Virentofta, McAlister, and Bangor before being assigned to garrison Bjarred. Later in 3078 the Second and the 1st Arkab Legion arrived to reinforce the 10th Pesht Regulars, who were fighting on Korramabad. The Second's members were totally disgusted by what they saw on the world. To clean the honor of the Combine, the Second subordinated themselves to the 1st Arkab Legion and supported the Legion assault on Slaithwaite.[7] The successful campaign on Slaithwaite saw more than 300 Black Dragon Society leaders and sympathizers executed.[8] After that campaign, the Second split into battalions and garrisoned Korramabad, Gravenhage and Hartshill.[7]

Republic Era

3085 found the Second An Ting Legion on Klathandu IV. Unfortunately the Draconis March forces have raided the world constantly, and as a result the unit has lost a battalion of troops.[9]

Dark Age

The Second was posted with the Eighth Legion of Vega during the reclaiming of the Dieron Military District worlds. Their advance were stopped however by the creation of the Fortress Republic. They are currently hung out alone on the triple border of the Republic of the Sphere and the Vega Protectorate. The Second has refrained from attacking the Rasalhague Dominion due to their concern over the poorly supplied Eighth. Currently they are content with carrying out recon raids and repelling the same.[10]

Officers

As of 3025 the commanding officer was Brigadier General Victoria Kuhlmeier.[11]

As of 3050 the commanding officer was Tai-sa Waters. Warers was killed in action on the planet Tan Linh 10 June, 3052 while rescuing the 42nd Dieron Regulars' survivors from a assault of the Third Jaguar Cavaliers of Smoke Jaguar; the CO received the Glory of the Fallen Samurai banner posthumously.[12]

As of 3059 the commanding officer was Tai-sa Shin Oshiko.[2]

As of 3067 the commanding officer was Tai-sa Erik Schmidtt.[13]

As of 3085 the commanding officer was Tai-sa Matthei Kozlowski.[14]

As of 3145 the commanding officer was Tai-sa Rhea Sutton.[15]

Tactics

The Second An Ting Legion specialized in night operations and engaging multiple enemies at once. It wasn't unusual for the members of the Second An Ting to put so much fire on so many targets that the enemy thought they were being attacked by a battalion rather than a company.[2]
