History

Operation Revival

Tukayyid

The cluster acted as a guard for the supply caravan serving the main Viper force at the Devil's Bath. While on route they were ambushed by the First ComGuard Division. The ComGuards were expecting an easy victory, but had not figured on the accuracy of the Goshawk and Viper 'Mechs of the Second Fang.[1]

In 3054[2] the cluster was stationed on Parakoila and were still defending the planet in 3060.[3]

By 3067 the cluster had moved to Grant's Station.[4]

War of Reaving

In September 3073 Kindraa Mattila-Carrol were under heavy attack from Steel Viper forces on Glory. Khan Carrol had gathered almost all her warriors here to defend vital facilities. As the fighting progressed an allied Clan Goliath Scorpion force moved to the system and landed near the city of Portage their fighters bombed the Viper positions allowing their ground troops to sweep in behind the Vipers Ninty-third Assault Cluster and crush them against the Mandrill forces. A dispute broke out between the allied Clan forces, but as they were settling their differences in a Trial of Refusal the Second Fang counter-attacked. Both Clans were caught off guard and Khan Carrol was killed. With her death the Mandrills fell into disarray breaking down into small pockets that were easily overwhelmed and wiped out as the 38th Phalanx joined the battle. The Scorpions halted the Second's assault with an orbital bombardment that allowed their forces to escape.[5]

The final fate of the Cluster is not known, it may have been destroyed during the orbital bombardment. It certainly would not have survived the destruction of Zeta Galaxy or that of Clan Steel Viper in 3075.[6]

Officers

Between 3061 and 3067 the Commanding Officer was Star Colonel Lev Gerard, who formerly commanded the disbanded 250th Assault Cluster.[7][4]

Tactics

The unit contained mainly second-line equipment in 3060 and the Star Colonel used the knowledge about the weapons of each machine to great effect. In the planning phase the Commander could select the right machines for the matching situation. During battles their radio traffic was reduced to a minimum and this made their opponents insecure. Electronic Warfare was also rendered useless.[7]
