The Second Robinson Rangers was a BattleMech Regiment originally raised as regional force to protect the Draconis March of the Federated Suns.

History

Fourth Succession War

During 3029 the Second Rangers were stationed on Breed. The 11th Benjamin Regulars attacked the world on June 7th[1] of that year the Rangers finally managed to push the Regulars off back world on June 19th, with assistance from several civilians.[2]

War of 3039

In the War of 3039 the Combine captured the world and forced the Second Rangers off-world. A third of the Rangers remained behind and waged a guerrilla war against the DCMS forces until the AFFS could send reinforcements.[3]

In 3050 the Second Robinson Rangers are stationed on Phact.[3][4]

The Second Robinson Rangers were out of position when Operation Guerrero launched and were unable to prevent the takeover of the Chaos March. They also protested the deployment of Combine peacekeepers in the Lyons Thumb, but a lack of funds prevented them from hiring commercial transport to immediately oppose the move.[3]

Dark Age

In 3090 a battalion of the 1st Robinson Rangers were split off from that regiment and used to form the core of the new Second Robinson Rangers. They got off to a good start by landing on Barlow's End in 3094, driving the DCMS off world and taking the system for the Federated Suns. The Second spent the next five decades in the Draconis Reach, frequently fighting the DCMS to a standstill.

The Combine sent a DEST team to raid Lima in 3106. The Second Rangers were defending that world, and though they engaged the DCMS forces, they were unable to prevent the DEST team from stealing a database from an MIIO installation.[5]

In 3139 the Second was undergoing rest and refit on Robinson when the Draconis Combine made a huge push to take the Draconis Reach. Their transportation assets were unavailable, and so the Second wasn't able to stop the DCMS' advance. They did prevent Wolf's Dragoons from taking Glenmora[6][7], but had to stop when the Ryuken-go arrived to reinforce the Dragoons.

The Second was stationed on Robinson in 3144. The DCMS landed on the world that year and drove the defenders out of the system, but only after the Second took heavy losses. The survivors relocated to Markesan to recover.[8][9]
