History

Star League Era

The Thirty-fifth Avalon Hussars was one of many Avalon Hussars regiments to be deactivated during the Star League era after the Star League Council issued the Council Edict of 2650, which limited the maximum permissable size of the military of each Great House. When the Council Edict of 2650 was revoked a century later each of the Great Houses began an extensive rearmament programme, including the Federated Suns. The Thirty-fifth was promptly reactivated, and within a year of reactivation was directly responsible for the recapture of the Zenith jump point facilties in the Bremond system after they had been seized by hostile forces.[1]

The Thirty-fifth's performance during the daring space assault at Bremond earned the regiment the nickname "The Dark Water Boys", and the Thirty-fifth continued to actively practise black water tactics until at least as late as the mid-2760s.[1]

Tactics

During the Star League era all of the Avalon Hussars were required to focus on being both flexible and mobile, with every regiment required to be capable of deploying within eight hours, although many of the Hussars struggled to actually achieve this.[2] The Thirty-fifth trained extensively for operations in space and as a consequence deployed only jump-capable units.[1]

Thirty-fifth Avalon Hussars (Regular/Reliable)[3]

- At this point in time the Thirty-fifth was stationed on Kennard.[3] In common with the other regiments of the Avalon Hussars the Thirty-fifth had an attached aerospace wing, although these forces were primarily tasked to provide ground support rather than escort duties.[2] Every unit in the Thirty-fifth was jump-capable.[1]
