History

The Fourth Donegal Guards were stationed on Sudeten in 2765.[1]

The unit received its nickname when having to recruit socialist workers when defending Odessa from Kuritans in 2846.[2]

Anton Marik's Revolt

During the chaos of Anton Marik's Revolt the Fourth Donegal took advantage of the situation. They attacked Nestor and the Fifth Orloff Grenadiers.[3]

Fourth Succession War

The unit was involved in an attacks on Harvest, Kirchbach and Liezen in the Fourth Succession War. On Harvest, they engaged Helmut's Hermits, and defeated the mercenary unit.[4]

After the war the unit raided the Capellan Confederation worlds of Homestead and Holloway from Velhas. [2]

FedCom Civil War

The Fourth, like the rest of the Donegal Guards, fought for Katherine Steiner-Davion. It was involved in battles on Sirdar and Taygeta.[5]

The unit took part in the attack on New Syrtis in 3065/66 during the FedCom Civil War. They were defeated and were the only invading unit, that left the planet somehow intact.[citation needed]

The Fourth surrendered to Duke Hasek on New Syrtis.[5]

As of 1st August 3067, the fourth was on New Syrtis and down to 10% strength.[6]

Jihad

During the Jihad the Fourth Donegal Guards were destroyed or captured by CCAF forces on New Syrtis.[7] The survivors of the Fourth were held in a Capellan POW camp until the end of the Jihad. Shortly after they were repatriated to the Lyran Commonwealth, the Fourth's survivors were quickly re-equipped into a new Light Combat Team. They faced Clan Jade Falcon forces on Yeguas, preventing that world from falling to the Falcons.[8] In 3085 they were the garrison for Yeguas.[9]

Dark Age

In 3127 a battalion of the Fourth raided Mogres. They faced elements of the 12th Falcon Regulars. The raid didn't go well and the Fourth was forced to withdraw.[10]

The Fourth Donegal Guards were deployed into the Republic of the Sphere in 3136 in response to acts by the Stormhammers and other pro-Lyran forces. These worlds later came under Lyran control. The Fourth was assigned to garrison Turinge, and they frequently raided Chuckchi III.[11]

Officers

In 2765 the unit was commanded by Colonel Jakob Perez, who changed many of the unit's traditional Anglo-inspired colors and insignia for more Germanic versions to appeal to the Steiner family. There was some grumbling in the ranks about this disrespect for the unit's history and traditions.[12]

As of 3025 the unit is commanded by Colonel Gilda Feira[13]

As of 3050 the unit is commanded by Marshal Adolf Steinglatz.[14]

As of 3054 the unit is commanded by Marshal Lyle Cerny.[15]

As of 3062, the Commanding Officer is Hauptmann-General Victor Amelio, he held also the command in 3067 as to 3085.[2][6][9]

In 3145 the commanding officer is Leutnant-Colonel Ruben Barker.[16]

Tactics

The unit is skilled in planetary assault and to 'motivated' the defenders to put more troops to the front.[2]
