Description
The original 3080 regiment was quickly formed using the enthusiastic but inexperienced personnel of the other Capellan Defense Force regiments, new recruits and Home Guard veterans. The unit was completely destroyed in 3084 against overwhelming odds on Liao.[1]
The reformed 3145 unit uses the Augmented Regiment formations commonly found in the CCAF by 3145.[2] They are a second-line regiment of the Capella Commonality.[3]
History
Formation
Finding both the First and Second Capellan Defense Force at peak strength in 3079 with an abundance of extra equipment on Capella, the Strategios decided to vastly expand the brigade by adding three new regiments. The Sixth Capellan Defense Force was composed of frustrated personnel from both CDF regiments, raw recruits and Home Guard veterans. The unit was assembled quickly in 3081.[1]
The 6th Capellan Defense Force was reformed in secret sometime before 3141 as one of the Hidden Lion regiments formed by Chancellor Daoshen Liao using stockpiled equipment.[4]
Jihad
-3084 - Recognizing the untenable situation brought about by Operation VINDOLANDA, Sang-jiang-jun Talon Zahn began to gather a Task Force on Liao to counterattack. Three Stone's Brigade regiments and nearly half of the Hastati Sentinels attacked before preparations were complete. Fighting alongside the Red Lancers and the few remaining reserves the CCAF had left, the 6th Capellan Defense Force was completely destroyed. The planet fell with the survivors retreating back to Confederation space.[1]
Dark Age
The regiment was reformed sometime during this period.[4]
-3141 - The 6th CDF briefly clashed with the Twelfth Oriente Hussars with inconclusive results.[4]
-3145 - The regiment garrisoned Wazan along the Free Worlds League border.[5]

Tactics
Created with asymmetrical warfare in mind, the Sixth CDF are trained to operate in widely dispersed formations, coalescing only to attack and scattering when strongly opposed.[4]
Unit Emblem
The granting of their nickname had been accompanied by a logo depicting a roaring lion.[4]
