History

The Eighth Regulan Hussars were formed from former Free Worlds League units that joined the Word of Blake during the Jihad. They joined the Regulan Hussars after seeing the Word of Blake fail. They were stationed on Hongqiao in 3079.[1]

After participating in several peacekeeping missions around the Principality of Regulus the Eighth became notorious for using excessive force and tactical nuclear weapons. On at least three occasions, the Eighth sprayed a peaceful protest march with riot foam and rubber bullets. These actions were damaging to the Regulan Hussars as a whole, so the Eighth was transferred to Hongqiao and the command staff was encouraged to retire. Since then the Eighth has been training in proportional responses. As of 3085 the Eighth was assigned to garrison Vosloorus.[2]

The Eighth Regulan Hussars were stationed on Ibarra in 3097. While there the world was raided by the 2nd Loyalty Defenders. One of the Eighth's tactical nuclear weapons misfired and destroyed a major city. The RSMC immediately seized the Eighth's stockpile of nuclear weapons and forced them to undertake a training program that focused on actual combat tactics. This punishment went on for several decades before the Eighth was seen as a capable part of the Regulan Hussars.[3] The Eighth was stationed on Ibarra in 3145.[4]
