As of 3059, the Nightlord-class battleship Absolute Truth was serving as the CSA Absolute Truth within the Clan Star Adder touman. The Absolute Truth was serving as one of the five vessels that constituted the Alpha Naval Reserve.[1] The Absolute Truth remained an active part of the Star Adder touman for through the next decade and into the Wars of Reaving.[2]

History[edit]

Wars of Reaving[edit]

Nouveaux Paris[edit]

In early July 3072, the Absolute Truth and the Lola III-class destroyer CSA Warlock arrived in the Nouveaux Paris system, a system which had been a Clan Hell's Horses supply station in the Deep Periphery, but which had subsequently been captured by forces from the Society and the resurgent Clan Burrock. The Hell's Horses had sent two ships, the Lola III-class CHH Black Knight and the Potemkin-class cruiser CHH Blood Horse to investigate the myserious silence from Nouveaux Paris, the two WarShips transporting the Hell's Horses Eta Galaxy to conduct any ground operations needed. The Hell's Horses forces had encounted a suborned Burrock WarShip, the Cameron-class battlecruiser CBS Tremor; the Tremor had shadowed the Hell's Horses approach to Nouveaux Paris, the Tremor's AeroSpace forces had attacked shortly after the Hell's Horses WarShips had launched their DropShips. Eta Galaxy had been routed on the ground and were retreating back to the Black Knight when the Warlock and the Absolute Truth arrived; commanded personally by Khan Stanislov N'Buta, the two WarShips were escorting the Star Adder Alpha and Beta Galaxies and N'Buta promptly issued a terse message ordering the Hell's Horses to get out of the way or get run over.[3]

The resulting conflict on the ground between the Burrock, Bandit Caste and Society forces saw both sides take losses, with Khan N'Buta suffering a number of serious injuries following an ambush; the Burrocks ultimately forced the Adders to retreat by attacking the Star Adder landing zone and threatening to detonate a nuclear device at the site, leaving the Adders potentially stranded on a world with little ability to support them. N'Buta was forced to withdraw, leaving the Burrocks in possession of DropShips laden with war matériel, but two members of the Star Adder Watch managed to insinuate themselves into the Burrock forces and onto the Burrock ships as they withdrew from Nouveaux Paris to meet up with the Tremor, allowing the Star Adders to potentially track the Burrocks.[3]

One of the positive outcomes of the engagement in the Nouveaux Paris system was an agreement between Khan N'Buta and Galaxy Commander Unther Cooper of Clan Hell's Horses - on behalf of the Horses' Khan - to allow some of their combined forces to track and crush the Burrock forces together, and an agreement that in the event of an invasion of the Inner Sphere, the Star Adders wouldn't attack through the Hell's Horses Occupation Zone.[4]

York[edit]

The Absolute Truth and the Sovetskii Soyuz-class heavy cruiser CSA Nygaard were blockading the York system in August 3073 when two Clan Diamond Shark WarShips, the Potemkin-class cruiser CDS Titanic and the Fredasa-class corvette CDS Swift Strike attempted to run the blockade.[5]

The Titanic and the Swift Strike were being used to transport several DropShips full of supplies and matériel for Clan Blood Spirit from the Diamond Shark holding of Nyserta in the Inner Sphere to the Blood Spirit enclaves on York. The goods transported by the Swift Strike and the Titanic represented one of the last bargained contracts between the Blood Spirits and the Diamond Sharks, and also included a gift from the Diamond Sharks: several Stars of Crimson Hawk BattleMechs.[5]

Despite having been subject to a bombardment in 3072 that was sufficiently extensive to have altered the ecology of the world, York was still technically a Blood Spirit holding, and the Star Adders were blockading the system in the hope that they could intercept the remaining Blood Spirit warriors still at large. The Diamond Shark vessels requested passage to the planet, citing the arrangements which had been bargained out between the two Clans, but Star Admiral Fortunato Gena of the Star Adders refused to allow either Diamond Shark vessel to pass.[5]

The decision by Admiral Gena forced the Diamond Sharks to try and run the blockade in order to make good on their agreement to deliver to the Blood Spirits; the Star Adders responded by engaging the Swift Strike and the Titanic. The heavier Star Adder vessels first maneuvered to block the path of the Diamond Shark vessels to the planet, and then when the Titanic refused to deviate from its course, launched broadsides against the Titanic. The two broadsides were enough to destroy the Titanic, breaking the ship along her jump core. The Titanic's DropShips scattered and attempted to make it past the Star Adder vessels, but only half of them actually made it down to the planetary surface.[5]

Despite long range fire from the Absolute Truth damaging the Swift Strike managed to jump out of the York system to Albion, and then subsquently to a Diamond Shark holding in the Chainelane Isles, although it would take until November 3077 for the Swift Strike to complete the journey.[5]

Strana Mechty[edit]

The Truth was on Strana Mechty the 5 April 3076, when the McKenna's Pride was stolen by a group of Elementals from Clan Wolf, led by Garmen Kerensky. The Grand Council diverted the Truth to hunt them. They were near their target when the DropShip McKenna's Honor, crewed by three crewmembers, charginng against the Truth at 2,5G. The WarShip's fire managed to blow off the DropShip, but most of their fragments rammed their target. The WarShip lost 17 crewmembers, and nineteen were injured. It lost several weapons and suffered structural damage. That prevented it to continue the persecution, though it still participated on it, relaying messages to Strana Mechty.[6]

Colleen[edit]

The Absolute Truth and the McKenna-class battleship CSA Sovereign Right were both assigned to the destruction of the Blood Spirits in the Colleen system in October 3084. Leading a task force consisting of Gamma, Epsilon and Xi Galaxies, the two battleships proceeded to the planet Haven and summarily crushed the two surviving Blood Spirit WarShips, the York-class destroyer CBS Stooping Kite and the Carrack-class transport CBS Karianna Schmitt.[7]

After the Star Adder ground forces had crushed all of the opposition on Haven and looted as much isorla as could be transported off the planet, the Absolute Truth began a two-to-three week campaign of orbital bombardment that targeted every holding and enclave on the world and on the other inhabited world in the system, Honor. The Absolute Truth then left the Sovereign Right in the system for several months to continue destroying any Blood Spirit survivors discovered.[7]

The Absolute Truth was still an active part of the Star Adder touman as of 3085.[8]
