History[edit]
Swordsworn[edit]
Raised as a farmer and AgroMech pilot on Mallory's World, Vander did not intend to become a solider, until the death of her brother Micheal Vander at the hands of the Dragon's Fury during a raid on her homeworld in late 3132. Motivated mostly by revenge, she begged to be able to enlist in the newly formed Swordsworn unit the Prince's Men, though she also nominally identified as pro-House Davion.
Brave beyond good sense due to her hatred of the Dragon's Fury and the Draconis Combine, and preferring melee attacks due to her history as an AgroMech pilot, in combat Vander preferred to charge enemies to reach close range. While this caused her to lose at least one 'Mech, it was effective enough to encourage the Swordsworn to prevent her from becoming Dispossessed. While off-duty, Vander was extremely withdrawn and anti-social, in contrast to her boisterous comrades in the Prince's Men.[1]
Fifth Crucis Lancers[edit]
Vander participated in the defense of Tikonov against the Capellan Confederation, being on the final DropShip off-world following the Swordsworn's defeat and the death of Duke Aaron Sandoval.
Adding Sandoval's death to the things which she desperately wanted to avenge, Vander was transferred to the Fifth Crucis Lancers, with whom she got to fight the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry on Marlette in August 3146. Defeating enemy after enemy in her 'Mech, she was finally forced to fall back to base due to near-crippling actuator damage, where she died in the orbital bombardment of the Fifth by the Capellan's Feng Huang-class WarShip the Ilsa Hyung.[2][3]
BattleMech[edit]
Vander was known to have piloted an AgroMech in civilian life, before receiving an aged Axman upon joining the Swordsworn, which was lost in battle. Subsequently she received a Vulture OmniMech, serial number GB773-00B, nicknamed "Vendetta". This 'Mech was built by the Ghost Bear Dominion, and participated in Clan Ghost Bear's fighting against the Word of Blake during the Word of Blake Jihad, until it was damaged by Blakist neutron weapons during the liberation of Cebalrai. Absorbed into Stone's Coalition, after the Jihad it was assigned to the Republic of the Sphere's militia in Prefecture IV, before being claimed by the Swordsworn after the Blackout.[1][2][3][4]
