The Altais system is home to a single geologically-unstable but habitable planet[1] and as at 3145 is located in the Algedi Prefecture of the Dieron Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

The Altais system has a single F2IV primary around which orbits a single planet; at some point during the formation of the system a second planet failed to form, and debris from that failed planet is still present in the system.[1]

The Altais system was settled prior to the Age of War and possibly during the First Exodus from Terra.[4]

In the War of 3039 Altais was garrisoned by the 1st Ghost and 2nd Ghost regiments. They faced the 8th Donegal Guards, Dragonslayers, and Gray Death Legion in the first wave of the Commonwealth Thrust.
