Planetary History

Appian was colonized by the Fronc Reaches as part of a colonization programme that began in 3099 following a boom in the economy of the Reaches as a result of domestic and foreign policy changes by President Elaine Hadley that saw rapid growth in the domestic military-industrial sectors of the economy. By 3120 Appian and two nearby worlds colonized as part of the same programme, Mandalas and Tincalunas, had reached a point where they were self-sustaining agriculturally, and by 3135 each was contributing to the overall gross domestic product of the Reaches through agricultural surpluses, mining and trade. The settlers on Appian originated from a mix of independent and Capellan Confederation worlds.[20]
