System Description
The Barahona system lies close to the Danli and Las Tunas systems.[1]
System History
The Barahona system was either colonised by the Outworlds Alliance during the Star League era or was an already-inhabited system that was incorporated into the Alliance during this era and became significant enough for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording it on maps.[2] Barahona was removed from maps at some point during the Succession Wars,[3] indicating that the system had become too insignificant to merit further recording.

Planetary History
As of 3061 Barahona was is still inhabited, apparently as an independent world, and noted to be a popular raiding target although no attack had been successful for a decade. The world was defended by the Barahona Defense Force which did field at least one BattleMech lance as well as hovertanks and helicopters. On 15 August 3061 they fought a raiding party from nearby Sorsk to a draw.[7]
Barahona was described as a "water-rich" and (as of 3061) sparsely populated world. There were few communities, with over 90% of the population located on one continent. Pirate groups had been known to linger in the planet's wilds, but there are too few resources for them to remain there for long.[13]
