Planetary History

Reunification War

Settled at some point prior to the end of the Age of War[4] Bass was a member of the Magistracy of Canopus when a Star League Defense Force task force under the command of Captain-General Marion Marik was assigned to conquer the Magistracy in 2577. Bass was targetted by the SLDF in 2584 following capture of Canopus IV, and was conquered quickly by VII Corps' 55th Brigade in early 2584 with the support of the 2nd Orloff Grenadiers, with only a token resistance offered by forces on the planet before surrender.[6][32]

Bass would be occupied by the SLDF for the remainder of the war; once the Reunification War ended, a number of Magistracy worlds were annexed by the Free Worlds League, but Bass remained a part of the Magistracy.[6][7]

The Jihad

Following the firebombing of the city of Crimson on Canopus IV the Blakist Forty-first Shadow Division launched a series of attacks on other worlds within the Magistracy of Canopus between 3071[33] and 3073.[34] The Forty-first's rampage hit Bass before moving on to hit Lindenmarle, Megarez, Adherlwin and Borgan's Rift;[33] the Forty-first was then caught and hammered by a joint Canopian-Capellan task force in the Aspropirgos system in Free Worlds League space, ending their rampage.[33][34]

Dark Age

In July 3085 the Third Company of the recently rebuilt Raventhir's Iron Hand were on Bass, gaining experience by garrisoning various border worlds within the Magistracy, when the planet was struck by a raiding party. Numbering at least two companies in strength, the raiders, believed to originate from Astrokaszy, expected Bass to be unguarded and had arrived with the intent of capturing and enslaving a number of the locals. The Third Company violently disabused the raiders of this notion, slamming into the enemy landing zone and pushing them back. The raiders tried to fall back to their DropShips, only to have the Iron Hand attack and disable the DropShips in turn. Choosing to surrender, the raiders were subsequently executed outside the rebuilt provincial academy in Majestrix Square.[35]

In 3118 assistance from the Duchy of Andurien enabled the Alliance Aerospace Group to construct a new manufacturing facility in the Bass system; the new facility was producing Scout-class JumpShips until at least 3145.[31]
