BattleTech eras

Catalyst Game Labs, the current owners of BattleTech, have divided history into six eras (and one implied era). The products they released are grouped in this manner. Recently newer products have included other distinct time periods which brings the classification up to eleven eras (and one implied era):

Era	Years	Description
Pre-Spaceflight	Up to 1950	Earliest referred to era, where humanity resides only on its planet of origin Terra.
Early Spaceflight	1950 – 2200	The time of the Western Alliance, early Terran Alliance and earliest interstellar colonies.
Pre-Age of War	2200 – 2397	The Terran Alliance era and its collapse, the beginnings of the Terran Hegemony and the great houses of the Inner Sphere.
Age of War	2398 – 2569^[2]	The time of the Terran Hegemony, and "civilized" warfare between the Inner Sphere houses. The first BattleMech is created during this era.
Reunification War	2570 – 2597^[2]	The Star League is formed at this time and wars to bring the Rim Worlds Republic, Taurian Concordat and other Periphery states into the Star League occur.
Star League	2598 - 2784^[2]	The time when the Star League reached the height of its power and was destroyed by the Amaris Coup.
Succession Wars	2785 – 3049^[2]	When the Succession Wars raged between the Great Houses and many of the advances of the Star League disappeared as LosTech.
Clan Invasion	3050^[2] – 3061	The time between the beginning of the Clan Invasion and the Inner Sphere's victory at the Great Refusal.
Civil War	3062 – 3066	The years in the shadow of the Federated Commonwealth Civil War.
Jihad	3067^[2] – 3081	The time when the Word of Blake unleashed its Jihad.
unnamed era	~3082 – 3131	Roughly 50 years between the end of the Jihad and the beginning of the Dark Age. The era when The Republic of the Sphere was born.
Dark Age	3132 –	The time since the "blackout" that breaks down interstellar communication and threatens to bring about a new Dark Age in the Inner Sphere.
