As a world within the Capellan Hegemony, Bell was subject to heavy attacks from hired Kluanian pirates in 2305. Hired by the Sarna Supremacy, the pirates inflicted heavy damage on a number of Capellan border worlds, forcing the Hegemony to constantly redeploy troops to defend its worlds rather than continuing to stage attacks on Sarna.[2]

At some point after the end of the war, Bell became a member of the Chesterton Trade Federation; Bell then changed hands again later during the absorption of the Trade Federation by the Sarna Supremacy.[3] In 2357 a large force from the Federated Peacekeeping Forces - the armed forces of the Federated Suns landed on Bell and claimed it in the name of the Federated Suns, with Prime Minister Reynard Davion also demanding that the Supremacy cede the worlds of Chesterton and Highspire to the Federated Suns.[3] The Supremacy had no choice but to comply;[3] the Sarn garrison had been easily overrun, and the use of atomic weapons had been threatened to enforce the Federated Suns claim to the three worlds.[4] A combined relief force from the Capellan Commonality, Sarna Supremacy and Tikonov Grand Union arrived at Bell in 2358 to recapture the world,[4] only to discover that the entire civilian population had disappeared.[4][36]
