Clan Invasion

On 21st November 3051, Clan Steel Viper's 400th Assault Cluster attacked the planet Benfled as part of the Fifth Wave of Operation REVIVAL. The seasoned mercenary unit Narhal's Raiders met the Steel Vipers at Monument Hill but found themselves unprepared for the swiftness and firepower of the invading Cluster. After just four hours of combat fully two-thirds of the Raiders' forces had been destroyed and the mercenaries abandoned the planet. Seeing no further opposition the Steel Vipers declared victory.[27]

It was at this point the Clan received a transmission from Rene Duchesne of the Benfled 10th Cadet Corps, informing the Steel Vipers his forces still stood in opposition to their rule, and that he wished to bid against them in Clan fashion in a Trial of Possession over the planet. The Steel Vipers agreed and for several hours bargained with Rene, eventually reducing their bids down to a single unarmed and unarmored warrior. For their champion Rene presented Tony Bernson, a massive cadet standing just over two meters in height weighing almost 114kg of solid muscle. The Steel Viper champion, Star Commander Janine, was unfazed by her opponent's build. In a short but brutal contest which earned a mention in the Steel Viper Remembrance, Janine defeated Tony and took both him and Rene as bondsmen.[27]
