Second Succession War
On the 19th of February 2830 Coordinator Jinjiro Kurita launched simultaneous offensives against the Federated suns and Lyran Commonwealth. Operation AKAI KAZE - RED WIND - was the offensive launched against the Federated Suns; while the main targets of AKAI KAZE were the Franklin, Lucerne and Sakhara V systems, ten assorted systems were also hit by heavy raids, intended to distract and disorient the AFFS. One of those worlds was Breed, on which the First Avalon Hussars were located. The Eighteenth Benjamin Regulars landed on Breed, only to find their attack being swiftly repulsed by the Hussars, with the Hussars storming into the Regulars' landing zones and crushing them, forcing the DCMS troops to retreat rapidly to their Dropships.

Fourth Succession War
 +
During the early months of the Fourth Succession War Coordinator Takashi Kurita was focused on his conflict with the Wolf's Dragoons mercenary brigade, but following pleas for help from Chancellor Maximilian Liao the DCMS planned and launched additional offensives against perceived weak spots on the Federated Suns border. The Galtor Thumb region was one such weak spot, and Breed was invaded by the Eleventh Benjamin Regulars. Defending Breed were the Second Robinson Rangers, who outnumbered the Eleventh but made a number of crucial mistakes early in the campaign after being confused by the combination of surprise and speed on the part of the Eleventh. The campaign was still ongoing at the beginning of the lull in major combat operations in early 3029, with the Eleventh in control of the cities on Breed while the Rangers dominated the wilderness

When the Combine went on the offensive again later in 3029, the Eleventh expected the Rangers to abandon Breed and move to defend another planet in the region, and acted accordingly, beginning with pillaging the cities on the planet in a more systematic fashion. Stories reporting atrocities being conducted by the Eleventh prompted the Rangers to move to try and protect the civilian population, beginning with the planetary capital city, Tonston, which they believed to be the location of the Eleventh's headquarters. The Eleventh had dispersed around the countryside in company strength, and the advancing Rangers one such company from the Eleventh's Third Battalion at the village of Hooton and swiftly rolled over them.

As the Rangers approached Tonston, the various companies of the Eleventh retreated before them, joining up to launch harassing attacks on the advancing AFFS troops. While the Rangers were advancing through the Tonston Valley on the 19th of June, approximately a hundred kilometers from Tonston itself, their scouts reported that the Eleventh had formed up and was waiting for them a few kilometers ahead of them and were clearly ready to fight. The Rangers attempted to attack the Eleventh with their aerospace fighters, but the Rangers' fighters were driven off by the DCA counterparts, and a company of light 'Mechs from the Eleventh moved to circle the Rangers' right flank and attack from the rear. The Rangers responded by advancing straight at the heart of the Eleventh's main force, dispatching a pair of companies to attack the flanking light Regulars company when it made a mistake and approached too closely. The two regiments battled for two hours before the Rangers were able to drive the Regulars off Breed, with both regiments paying a heavy price.

Breed
System Information
X:Y Coordinates195.41 : 39.755[e]
Spectral classK7VII[1]
Recharge time198 hours[1]
Recharge station(s)Zenith[1]

The Breed system was home to at least one habitable world, Breed V, and as at 3145 was located in the Irurzun Prefecture of the Benjamin Military District within the Draconis Combine.[2][3]

System Description

The Breed system is located near the Paris and Tripoli systems[2][3] and consists of a class K7VII primary orbited by at least five planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the zenith jump point.[1]

System History

The Breed system was settled during the First Exodus from Terra[4] and by the end of the Age of War was a part of the Federated Suns.[5]

Breed V

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Breed V - more commonly known simply as Breed - is the fifth planet in the system and has three moons named Despot, Stoneface and Zampage. Although no major defense manufacturing companies have been located on Breed the planet has been home to a number of large mining consortiums, the three largest of which had headquarters on the continent of Talicar.[1]

Planetary History

Star League Era

During the Second Hidden War - also referred to as the War of Davion Succession - Breed would be occupied by Draconis Combine forces, until Star League Defense Force troops landed as a part of Operation SMOTHER, intended to restore order and separate the two combatants. The DCMS forces on Breed attempted to contest the SLDF landing, but was rapidly outclassed and outgunned by the SLDF forces.[6]

Succession Wars

The rich deposits of mineral and metal ores made Breed a hotly contested world for the next few centuries, with control trading off between the two Successor States at least three times before the Federated Suns took control of the world in 2992.[1]

First Succession War

During the First Succession War the Draconis Combine took control of Breed, invading during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched in May 2787.[7] Breed was liberated by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in 2815 as part of the third and final major AFFS counter-offensive of the First Succession War against the Draconis Combine.[8]

The Eighteenth Benjamin Regulars landed on Breed, only to find their attack being swiftly repulsed by the Hussars, with the Hussars storming into the Regulars' landing zones and crushing them, forcing the DCMS troops to retreat rapidly to their Dropships.[9]

Fourth Succession War

The campaign was still ongoing at the beginning of the lull in major combat operations in early 3029, with the Eleventh in control of the cities on Breed while the Rangers dominated the wilderness[10]

The Eleventh had dispersed around the countryside in company strength, and the advancing Rangers one such company from the Eleventh's Third Battalion at the village of Hooton and swiftly rolled over them.[11]

The two regiments battled for two hours before the Rangers were able to drive the Regulars off Breed, with both regiments paying a heavy price.[11]

The three continents on Breed lack any connecting land bridges, and as a consequence the inhabitants of the planet always relied on either ocean-based shipping or DropShip flights to move goods.[1]
