Reunification War

Bryceland was occupied by forces from the Star League Defense Force during the first wave of attacks on the Outworlds Alliance in 2581 as a part of the forcible incorporation of the Periphery States into the Star League following the mass rejection of the Pollux Proclamation. The Star League force responsible for capturing Bryceland was the 14th Brigade of II Corps, under the command of Lieutenant General Kern Peleshenko.[3]

In contrast to later conquests during the war against the Outworlds Alliance, the landings on Bryceland were relatively civilised; Lt. Gen Peleshenko landed forces around the Bryceland capital of Golden Bay on the 26th of July having already announced the presence of his Brigade on arrival within the system, and his landing zones and order of battle as his DropShips entered orbit. The defensive garrison had little chance against a complete Brigade of SLDF troops; after probing attacks on the 27th, 14 Brigade made a full attack on the 28th, breaking the Alliance lines in 10 minutes and the bulk of the Alliance infantry in 30 minutes, leaving the remaining armor units to be picked apart by 14 Brigade units. The Governor of Bryceland officially surrendered the planet on the 29th of July.[3]

In 2583 the SLDF 37th Royal Brigade was transferred to Bryceland at the orders of the SLDF Task Force Outworlds commander, General, Amos Furlough, following events that shattered the brigade on Haynesville, and 37 Brigade would remain on Bryceland until the end of the campaign.[31]

House Davion forces attempted to annex Bryceland in 2584, following SLDF redeployments removed units from occupied worlds in the Outworlds Alliance to fight against the Taurian Concordat, but the attempt was successfully thwarted by Hehiro Kurita,[32] and on 25 July 2585 Bryceland was formally seceeded to the Draconis Combine as a part of the terms laid out within the Treaty of Cerberus.[4]

The Jihad

Forces of the Kuritan Black Dragon Society raided Bryceland for supplies on the 4th of June 3075, but their raid was unsuccessful; the AFFS commander on Bryceland had the demolition charges within the underground storage bunkers detonated to prevent the Kokuryu-kai from capturing any of the materiel or weapons contained within them.[33][34] The Black Dragons had apparently managed to land more than two regiments of mixed infantry on Bryceland, including Battle Armor squads equipped with Kanazuchi suits aboard an Overlord-class DropShip that avoided detection by using a civilian Mammoth-class DropShip to obscure its signal. Even before the Black Dragon DropShip landed, the organisation had apparently infiltrated commandos onto Bryceland at least three months earlier, and those commandos struck with devastating results as their fellows landed. The insurgents used a fuel-air bomb on one of the main militia barracks, wiping out half of Alpha Command; General Haig, the commander of the militia, had the option to allow them to retreat with enough salvageable equipment from the Bryceland Mothball Storage fields, but when the Black Dragons found the nuclear weapons that had been stored there, decided he had no choice other than to activate the demolition charges built into the facilities and destroy the equipment stored there. Casualties amongst the Bryceland militia forces at the Storage facilities numbered in the hundred and included General Haig's son.[35]
