Burning Sky

Burning Sky was a 3132 holovid entry in the long-running Immortal Warrior franchise.[1][2]

Overview[edit]

Directed by Lawrence Kohlman, Burning Sky was a straightforward action holovid set in an alternate modern Inner Sphere. The Union of the Sphere, Daniel Rock's effort to impose order, finds itself falling into conflict. Old, suppressed hatreds and rivalries rise up again, set off by a vicious conservative officer. The lead, a retired soldier, is caught up in the chaos. He rescues Baroness Lianna Raines, played by Dawn Huntington, who falls for him and learns to fight. The film culminates in a 28 minute succession of action sequences.[1][2]

Burning Sky ran about 130 minutes. The film was shot across 12 worlds, and, using real equipment, showcased at least 18 different BattleMech designs. Jay Wise Special Effects handled special effects.[1]

The film found a broadly positive reception. Viewership set new records, and while INN reviewer Nero L. MacLeon found the plot formulaic, he recognized the appeal of the action.[1] Lead actress Dawn Huntington was nominated for a 3133 Golden Sun Award for Best Female Lead.[3]
