The Butte Hold system was home to at least one habitable world, Butte Hold III, and as at 3145 was located in the Periphery region known as The Barrens.[2][3]

System Description

The Butte Hold system is located near the Oberon VI and Sigurd systems[2][3] and consists of a class G8 primary orbited by at least three planets.[1]

System History

The Butte Hold system was either settled by the Rim Worlds Republic during or shortly before the Star League era, or was an already-inhabited system that joined the Rim Worlds Republic during this era.[4][5]

Butte Hold III

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Butte Hold III - more commonly referred to simply as Butte Hold - is the third planet in the Butte Hold system.[1]

Planetary History

Third Hidden War

Butte Hold was raided by an LCAF task force in 2742, acting on intelligence received by the Lyran Intelligence Corps which tied bandit forces from Butte Hold into a devastating raid on The Edge in 2741. The Lyran task force captured the bandit's base camp, obtaining evidence that the Draconis Combine had provided funding and resources to enable the raid to take place. This prompted direct confrontations between the two factions within the Star League High Council - including a fistfight between the Lyran Archon and the Coordinator of the Draconis Combine - and heralded the onset of the Third Hidden War, during which forces from each of the Great Houses engaged in active raiding against their counterparts, thinly veiling their actions at best.[6]

Founding

Butte Hold was annexed in 3018 by Redjack Ryan after he broke ranks with Hendrik Grimm.[1]

Clan Invasion

Butte Hold was attacked on September 3049, by Clan Wolf's Bronze Keshik. The invasion was uncontested and an easy victory for the Clan.[7]

Dark Age

In 3083 the Ferris Rebellion caused the Clans to withdraw from most of their Periphery holdings. Clan Hell's Horses had used Oberon VI as an administrative world, and when the Clan left the area in 3086, the administrators of that world formed the New Oberon Confederation. Butte Hold was one of five systems to join the new polity.[8]
