Major General Byron Gerber was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 35th BattleMech Division from at least 2762 to 2764.[1]

The senior Division commander of XXXVII Corps as of 2764, Gerber had a reputation as a competent but unimaginative commander. Furious at being overlooked for command of XXXVII Corps by General Tatjana Baptiste following the removal of Major General Simone Ffolkes-Smyth, he hoped that his superior Anne Borden would make a mistake grave enough to convince General Baptiste to promote him to replace her.
Gerber also disliked Major General Athena Vasilakis, the most junior Division commander in XXXVII Corps, clashing with her in relation to her more flexible ideas regarding strategy.[1]
