The Cambridge system is a Deep Periphery system that Clan Jade Falcon operated a black water naval base in as a part of the long route connecting the Clan Homeworlds with the Inner Sphere during the Clan Invasion era.[1]

System Description

Located relatively close to the Deep Periphery systems known as Rondane and Wark, the Cambridge system primary is a type F3V star. The Clan garrison in the system was a surface garrison located 10.5 days from the system jump point.[1]

System History

Although the Cambridge system was known to be garrisoned by forces from Clan Jade Falcon during Operation REVIVAL through to at least the mid-3050s, it is unclear which Clan(s) established the garrison or when the system was first garrisoned.[1]

Planetary History

In early 3071 a Seeker group from Clan Goliath Scorpion composed of the Eighth Scorpion Grenadiers and First Eridani Lancers was actively working its way along the far side of the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone in the hopes of finding remnants from the vanished Rim Worlds Republic when it encountered a system with heavy defences some six jumps from Erewhon. In that system, which was designated on Star League era maps as T-892, the three JumpShips transporting the Seeker group was attacked by an unidentified Peregrine-class WarShip. The three JumpShips were able to jump back out of the T-892 system, although the JumpShip Whisper suffered a cracked KF drive as a consequence of the second jump and both the ship and cargo had to be abandoned.[2]

The remaining two Goliath Scorpion ships were left overloaded and in need of minor repairs, and Star Colonel Sandra directed the ships to travel to the Cambridge system, which was the nearest system known to have an inhabited world. The two JumpShips successfully made it to Cambridge, only to be surprised by the arrival of a substantial fleet belonging to Clan Ice Hellion shortly after their own arrival. Star Colonel Sandra launched a Trial of Possession for one of the Ice Hellion JumpShips and won, obtaining a ship that she could use to ease the journey back to the Homeworlds as well as learning that the Ice Hellion fleet was the vanguard of the Ice Hellion invasion of the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[2]

The Inner Sphere was aware By 3095 that the Cambridge fleet base had been destroyed.[3]
