In March of 3061 the Capellan Brigade was created by Sun-Tzu Liao from former mercenary units thought to be deserving of the preferred status conferred by Confederation Sponsorship. That is, said mercenaries became house regulars.

The Regiments do not share joint command naming their own commanders and officers and largely maintain their own colors.

History[edit]

Marshigama's Legionnaires was the first to accept membership in the new Brigade although this is disputed by the Harloc Raiders. The final unit to join was the 1st Shin Legion after being in exile for 30 years.

In the wake of the Jihad the Capellan Brigade found itself to be the last priority for resources as the CCAF rebuilt itself; with allegations that the CO of the Highlanders was actively pilfering supplies from the shipments Tao 'Mechworks was making to the Legionnaires, discipline and morale had slipped even further by 3081.[1]

During the Capellan Confederation's attack to take worlds from the newborn Republic of the Sphere in 3081, the Capellan Brigade initially had several triumphs against the Republic forces. Ambermarle's Highlanders were destroyed on Azha by the VII Hastati Sentinels, while Marshigama's Legionnaires were destroyed on Zurich by the VI Hastati Sentinels. The Harloc Raiders served well, however, and fought alongside Lockhardt's Ironsides. The survivors of the Raiders were transferred to other line units and granted citizenship. The Raiders command staff remained in place, however, and the unit became a foreign legion populated by former bandits and individual mercenaries.[2]
