Caripera
System Information
X:Y Coordinates146.81 : 291.27[e]

The Caripare system was the location of at least one habitable world or construct and as at 3145 was located in the Irece Prefecture of the Pesht Military District within the Draconis Combine.[1][2]

System Description

The Caripare system is located near the Cyrenaica and Juazeiro systems.[3]

System History

The Caripare system settled at some point prior to the end of the Reunification War.[4]

Political Affiliation

Planetary History

Caripare was a highly productive agricultural world. [17]

Clan Invasion

Highly appealing to Clan Nova Cat Khans both due to its position in the Smoke Jaguar-Nova Cat invasion corridor placing it both near the front lines but far enough away to make it harder for Draconis Combine raids as well as the high productive agriculture world's use as a supply point, Caripare was targeted in February 3052 during the fifth wave of the Clan Invasion. Alpha Galaxy's First Nova Cat Guards issued a batchall to the defending Second Ghost, skeptical in response to the Ghost Regiments claims of being an inexperienced green unit but hoping for an easy victory, Star Colonel Gritas bid two Trinaries to take the planet. [17]

Setting the tone for the battle of Caripare, almost immediately after landing near Johnson Lake, the First Nova Cat Guards came under attack by elements of the elite and highly seasoned Second Ghost hidden in the water's depths, suffering heavy losses. Citing the deliberate misinformation of the Combine unit, Star Colonel Gritas broke her bid and called down another Trinary to bolster her beleaguered forces. The additional troops allowed the First Guards to ultimately destroy the Second Ghost and take planet, but they could not avoid highly costly and fierce running battles in the centuries-old Treverton Forest and the Lissan Fields that turned them to cinder.[17]

Now also recognizing Caripare's strategic importance, Clan Smoke Jaguar immediately challenged Clan Nova Cat to a Trial of Possession for the planet. Unwilling to destroy any more of the planet's resources, after a long and acrimonious debate, the Khans of both Clans ultimately agreed to share the conquest of the world and administer it jointly.[17]

Operation BULLDOG

During the first wave of Operation BULLDOG, the First Shin Legion, the Com Guards Seventy-Ninth Division, 1st Fusiliers of Oriente and the First St. Ives Lancers seemingly launched a strike against the Nova Cat enclave on Caripare, in truth arriving in response to a prearranged batchall with the defending Fifth Nova Cat Regulars Cluster and First Nova Cat Guards Bravo and Delta Trinaries on-world. Following a brief stand-up fight between the First Shin Legion and Fifth Nova Cat Regulars, the defeated Nova Cat forces on world became abtakha to the reborn Star League.[31]

During the second wave of BULLDOG, the newly renamed First Star League Novat Cat Guards and Fifth Star League Regulars joined the First Shin Legion, Seventy-Ninth Division, First Fusiliers of Oriente, First St. Ives Lancers and Second An Ting Legion in attacking the Second Jaguar Guards and the Smoke Jaguar enclave on Caripare, inflicting heavy losses before the Jaguars withdrew in the face Nova Cat collusion with the Inner Sphere forces. With the other units moving on to other targets, the Fifth Regulars, First Guards and the Second An Ting Legion remained to garrison the planet. [32] [31] [32]

Combine-Ghost Bear War

When Clan Ghost Bear launched a retaliatory invasion in response to the suicidal attack by three regiments of the Alshain Avengers against Alshain that triggered the Combine-Ghost Bear War, the Bears Rho Galaxy struck Caripare, their refusal to give the Abjured Nova Cats the honor of zellbrigen allowing them to annihilate the two defending clusters of the Omega Provisional Galaxy on-world in short order. Leaving behind the Eighteenth Battle Cluster and supporting elements to hold Caripare as the rest of Rho attacked Itabaiana, the Bear defenders came under attack by the Nova Cats' Alpha Galaxy led by Khan Santin West, spearheading their Clan's first counterattack against the Bears. Suffering heavy losses to the elite Alpha and with Clan Hell's Horses striking at Ghost Bear worlds, the Eighteenth was ordered home, ceeding Caripare back to the Combine. [33] [34] [35] [36]

Jihad

After the Combine-Ghost Bear War, Coordinator Theodore Kurita funded the creation of the Lambda Galaxy on behalf of the sacrifice that the Clan made during the war. The unit was staffed with both Nova Cat warriors and cadets from select DCMS military academies with connections with the Irece Prefecture. Broken into two sections, much of the Nova Cat portion of Lambda was stationed on Caripare, replacing the destroyed Omega. [37] [38]

In February 3072, Lambda forces on Caripare stripped their base completely of all equipment, supplies, and other war materials without explanation and left, attracting comparisons with the disappearance of the former Zeta Galaxy during the Combine-Ghost Bear War.[39]
