Carlotta Helgameyer was a leading figure in the resistance against the Draconis Combine occupation of Verthandi in the early part of the thirty-first century.

Carlotta was a tall and lovely young woman, and to Grayson Carlyle's eyes, barely more than a girl.[2] She had blonde hair.[3]
Working Against House Kurita[edit]
While a member of the Verthandian Revolutionary Council, she remained on the staff at Regis University. Helgameyer was the rebels' liaison with anti-Kuritan groups operating in the city of Regis.[2] She arranged for the warehouse fire in Regis to conceal the nighttime approach of James Thorvald and his forces.[4]
Passion versus Politics[edit]
Helgameyer pursued a love affair with Tollen Brasednewic, which they had to keep a close secret. As the daughter of one of the "Old Families" of Verthandi - the descendants of the original colonists - Carlotta could not admit her involvement with Brasednewic, who was from a family that had emigrated to Verthandi to escape the destruction of the Succession Wars on worlds deeper within the Inner Sphere. There was considerable animosity between the two groups, and she feared the political damage news of their affair might do to the often-delicate revolutionary movement.[5]
Prisoner of the Combine[edit]
When the rebel base at Fox Island was raided by Kuritan forces, Carlotta Helgameyer was captured alive. Governor-General Masayoshi Nagumo turned her over to his interrogators, they were able to break her to the point where she revealed the existence of rebel sympathizers inside Regis University.[6] She named many of her colleagues as rebels, including Olav Haraldssen. In all, 117 people were arrested on her information and were summarily executed in the courtyard of the University.[7]
A New Beginning[edit]
Carlotta survived the rebel uprising that broke the will of the Kuritan occupation forces. She had been left traumatized by her brutal treatment, but being reunited with Tollen Brasednewic went a long way towards helping her emotionally. She married Tollen, and with him as Verthandi's newly installed head of state thanked Grayson Carlyle and his Gray Death Legion as they prepared to leave Verthandi.[1]
